Hi,

Just wondering whether the assessment day is scored as overall score or scored as a pass or fail per section? I’ve just come out of the paper assessment day knowing I’ve completely screwed up one section

I suspect it depends on the TOC, if its GWR each paper is scored separately but you have to pass all papers to be considered to progress to the next stage.

Ok it is gwr...so for example on the attention test can u pass 2 parts of it and fail the final part but still pass overall? I suspect it’s just a blanket fail

I went and marked off just plumbers with double symbols instead of all double symbols which is apparently what the instruction was

Sorry to hear that mate, but just so you know for next time, they are all plumbers on that page so you only have to concentrate on the double symbols. The information regarding plumbers is irrelevant.

I think what threw me was when the assessor was talking about “only looking for plumbers with double symbols as they provide a higher level of service” and also the fact that I saw cafes and restaurants on the page with double symbols I ignored them as I was looking for plumbers. So I wouldn’t have got any wrong, just wouldn’t of got enough right

I made a similar mistake first time round. However the first test sheet you do they ask you to look for plumbers. Ignore that and circle all double symbols. The second test sheet you do where you count the beeps at the same time they ask you to look for restaurants, ignore that and circle all double symbols.

The second sheet I did do that, the first one I would have missed a load of correct ones due to looking for plumber ones

That's what I did first time round, spent to long making sure they are plumbers, but that information is there to confuse you on purpose. They are all plumbers on that page or at least everything with a double symbol is a plumber.

Sorry to hear this. If it’s any consultation, the DFFT is an enhanced only test so if we’re talking about what you passed to the national standard, you can disregard that one.

Not for 6 months and you have put yourself under massive pressure. Never heard of anybody having so many failures before, normally 1 or 2 at the most.

What happened? Nerves get to you? Got there late?

Group Bourdon Fail

I think there is some confusion.

Call the OPC back and ask if you have passed all the tests to National Standard.

You can't 'fail' the Group Bourdon and achieve 'standard' It sounds like you have passed the tests, just not to 'Enhanced' ergo West Midlands standard. If you have indeed passed the tests to 'Standard' then you have actually been successful and can apply to any TOC that will accept 'standard'

You passed Group bourdon to standard and failed to meet standard for anything else is my reading of the info you provided as TRP part 1 and 2 are counted as 1 test even if you pass one of the parts

I think the confusion is that he has failed as far as WMT are concerned, as they use the enhanced standard. I agree it’s misleading though, and should have maybe a couple of columns which differentiate?
