Is it possible we could be looking at service to London starting next Monday? Workings on the Norwich in 90 service are advertised as Second Class only from 23rd September:

RTT now shows 1st and 2nd class for this train on Monday 23rd

Norwich - London

if I can I'd like to see the train, either passing through a station (eg: Stratford) or at Liverpool Street - hopefully non-passengers will be able to board and have a look around ... obviously alighting before its scheduled departure time!

I think it was the 800s leaked water from the air conditioning on the press launch day or something.
I highly doubt there will be any cracked frames with the 755s. They are a proven design and having had the pleasure of a few journeys on them appear to be exceptionally well designed and put together.
What about the sick, blackouts, craked frames and failed couplings. Wonder which trains were those?

755s seem more than capable of dealing with those issues. Would the engine carriage be likely to suffer software blackouts?

I would put money on the train being a DVT set :)

Why does the RTT show a Class 745 EMU if it's a DVT set?

RTT is not an official representation, it's been shown on TOPS as a 745 since May this year :) RTT just takes the feed from that, the actual stock used is uploaded to TOPS in the early hours of the day in question,

As far as we know currently 745's are not cleared to run in passenger service.

if I could be sure that this service on Monday will be a Stadler train I'd buy a return from London to Ispwich - but I cannot so will just film from the lineside.

As they have not been (as far as I know) accepted by GA yet, I would not risk it :)

Again thats the timing load, notice on RTTservices from Ipswich to Peterborough and Cambridge are timed as 321 because that timing load has been used departing from Ipswich and its what RTT is picking up. Doesn't mean one will turn up on it.

I suspect there would be a bit of a problem after Stowmarket if one did!

Sorry if this has been asked already, but I assume the plan for these when they get into full service will include through services from London to the Norfolk coast?

I'm sure they'd manage it, but the 755s will get there far more quickly, especially the 4-car sets.
Yes no doubt. Not sure what speed 158s comfortably (& against regulations of course) will run at. 150/153/156 units always seemed to hold at around 87-88mph back in pre OTMR days. Class 170 limiters come in at 102.

Only Lowestoft via the East Suffolk where 4 trains per day are planned.

Off-topic, but at least 109mph

The 755s presumably have been tested to 110 anyway.

Just from Lowestoft? No Great Yarmouth through trains as a few years ago?

109 is decent even if it is off topic :D

Nope, no Yarmouth's planned. I think they proved that it's only Mondays, Fridays & Saturdays during summer & it proved more beneficial to enhance the local connection frequency which is a (delayed) franchise commitment for every day. You cannot run the 745s through & would need multiple 755s to stand in for one which really isn't viable or efficient use of the fleet.

Hi guys. Taking a trip to London tomorrow and hoping to get on a new train. Does anyone know what services they'll be between Norwich and Cambridge?

They are booked on most but nothing definite until first thing except the unit that does the 22:40 tonight. I will try to check for you in the morning if you like.

Thanks for the replies to my message - I'm glad I have *not* bought my train tickets yet - I do want to go to Ipswich but would prefer to wait until the new trains will get me there.

I can understand that, certainly improving the local service is great. How is it that the Lowestoft service can operate then though?

The East Suffolk is an all year round different ball game. Very healthy leisure and commuter traffic to from the capital with up to 100 connecting at times. If you worked both routes you would see the stark difference. Don't be confused into thinking Lowestoft is important though.

Noticed recently for bimodes it says timed for a class 158 at 100mph
You probably already know this but just an FYI, if you see this in RTT it means it's timed for a 170. For whatever reason Turbostars show in RTT's timing load as 158s, but on operators which use both (e.g. Scotrail) you can tell which is which by it showing 100mph instead of 90.

Aparently. Seems daft when a 230 or a trio of Scuds would do but I suppose it's not practical.
Probably for the same reason as the rest of the fleet renewal, the avoidance of microfleets. I think in retrospect there should not have been an issue with microfleets, but then again, supposing the Sudbury branch had been the first user of the 230s, not Marston Vale. What would people be saying about GA if they performed as well there as they have so far. As long as they do actually fit, I'm perfectly fine with use of 755/3s on the Sudbury branch.
