I’m unsure as to why the Sudbury’s are suddenly being singled out as unworthy of new trains.

109 is decent even if it is off topic :D

Nope, no Yarmouth's planned. I think they proved that it's only Mondays, Fridays & Saturdays during summer & it proved more beneficial to enhance the local connection frequency which is a (delayed) franchise commitment for every day. You cannot run the 745s through & would need multiple 755s to stand in for one which really isn't viable or efficient use of the fleet.
Why can't they run through? Yarmouth platform seems very long.

I can understand it might not have enough demand.

Well for the 745s you a missing almost 20 miles of overheads and as for a rake of 755s just no demand for it, not with connections at Norwich

Hahaha, with the 755s, it's easy to forget routes aren't electric! As longs as you aren't sat by the engines.

At the start of service ALL services on the Norwich-Cambridge route are Stadler operated except...

08:50 Cambridge-Norwich
22:03 Norwich-Cambridge

Enjoy!

Until a driver / guard turns up without required traction knowledge.

Going to Diss somepoint this week to go up to Norwich and have a spin on one of these 755's, any Great Yarmouth service should do?

Also was thinking of getting one of the new London sets but since they aren't out yet, I assume most weekday services are still Class 90's or is it mostly 321's?

Seems like a lot of days to me. We usally only get two days oft training per traction. That includes about 20-30 minutes of driving.
So different to what we are used too as well as dispatch and door operation that's totally new to us in this depot. Lots of software issues though causing things to be put back.

Some Stadler operation on the Wherry Lines but mostly 90/DVT on IC services with a couple of 321 diagrams most days.

The East Suffolk is an all year round different ball game. Very healthy leisure and commuter traffic to from the capital with up to 100 connecting at times. If you worked both routes you would see the stark difference. Don't be confused into thinking Lowestoft is important though.

Still more important than Great Yarmouth though?

What version of the software are Stadlers on? Or are they very hush hush about this sort of thing? Bearing in mind GER IETs are now on version 70 or more.

Goodness only knows. I don't sign them yet so pay little attention. Guards have been advised it could be 5 weeks before the problems are sorted.

What are the main issues with the software?

ASDO as far as I know. Although yesterday one on raising the pan whilst stationary saw it quickly drop, then the other raise & drop. Afterwards advice had to be given to the drivers as the diesel engine then refused to start.

Are any more units expected to enter service or are they waiting for software fixes before bringing them into traffic?

if I could be sure that this service on Monday will be a Stadler train I'd buy a return from London to Ispwich - but I cannot so will just film from the lineside.

I was at Stratford at the right time to see the train pass through on its way to Liverpool Street station... it was indeed a Class 90, Mk3 carriages and DVT.

I am sure that in the fullness of time the day will come when Stadlers reach London. I just hope the weather will be OK (after all it will soon be winter).

I would hope that being Swiss built that they could cope with a British Winter!:lol::lol:

I have been on a FLIRT EMU in Norway, and it performed brilliantly in the snow!
Of course we have to remember that in this country - if there are problems - it will be blamed on the wrong type of snow!!

Different types of snow is a thing. Depends on the density and temperature. The snowblowers the Furka-Oberalp Bahn ordered based on a design for the norwegian NSB failed to perform in the swiss alps. They had to be redesigned.

Let's not also forget issues that snow causes could often be off-train infrastructure that Stadler can do nothing about, even if it's infrastructure implemented specifically with those trains in mind. That's often where the UK falls down compared to other nations, I would say moreso than problems with rolling stock.
