Today out on T021 05.45 Upminster depot-21.28 Lillie Bridge

Train 21 is now 21433/34 I'm afraid. 21373/74 was reformed at the end of the morning peak to train 122 again and appears to have stabled at Ealing Common Depot, where it would now be. I will try to look at the first few starters this afternoon for you to see if it reappears...

Thank you very much appreciated if you can give me a update

Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to have come out on any of trains 121 - 123, 125, 126 and 172 (H&C) which are the afternoon starters at Ealing Common. Train 124 seems to have not run. From this I conclude that 21373/74 is still at Ealing Common Depot and won't work again today, unless there is a changeover. I can have a look for you tomorrow if that is any help...

I may get a chance tomorrow to try for Piccadilly Line 862, 867 and 870 for photo if they have been reformed "outer end" yet?

Meanwhile, is there any sign of the Central's 91341 re-appearing yet please?

91341 remains a work in progress and is still stopped with a expected date of the end of September. I haven't seen an update since a bit before the summer holidays, so I can't really make a prediction for its return, but I would regard the date as being 'nominal' at this point. I will post again when / if I see anything more definite...

I'm afraid I can't help you with your Piccadilly double ended 3 cars either as:
863 is leading train 322 today (reformed from 355) indicating that 862 remains an inside cab.
866 is leading train 312 indicating that 867 also remains an inside cab.
870 / 871 are not in service today, but yesterday's records show 871 leading...

Reforms do happen all the time, but I guess any one unit typically stays with its pair for months at a time rather than weeks...?

I hope this helps, if only to save you a trip.

Thanks; in the event I stuck with doing IET and 717 haulages yesterday, but it's clear that on my next trip out this coming Monday 16th there is no point haunting the Piccadilly... So yes, even a negative report like this is useful as it saves me several hours.

I have had a look at my historical data and this shows that the last dates on which the three Piccadilly line cars you are after were running at the front of any working. From this I learned that 862 was last recorded leading on Monday 20th May 2019, 867 last led a train on Thursday 30th June 2019 and 870 was last at the front on Friday 7th June 2019, so they have all been 'inside' cabs for some months. Not immediately helpful for you, but they have at least been used as leading cars this year!

The data I have goes back a decade and I can find no record of 91341 leading a train in that time...

Thanks and yes, 91341 was one of those with a "no drive" restriction due to a defective and robbed cab for a long time before it was called in for the current rebuild, so that explains your finding.

As to my three Piccadilly targets, I guess in a way it's good news as that's three to four months "inner" so they may statistically be getting close to be reformed "outer" again. I hope...

Hi Peter. All of these three are stopped at present - 3556 is at Acton for overhaul or similar and looks like being out of service through October. 3543 is at Stonebridge Park and potentially back in service next week, but 3238 (also at Stonebridge Park) is longer term stopped as it last worked on 23 March 2018...

867 has been in service leading trains from Monday this week and is train 224 so far today, your other two remain inner cabs though...

I might well be going to Heathrow tomorrow ( Saturday ) to check a few details out for a forthcoming trip; so obviously if anyone is able to say if 867 is out I'd be interested, please.

A quick check on the status of 862 and 870 would probably be useful as well...

I can confirm that 867 is out - at present (11:50ish Saturday) EB at South Kensington with train 236. The data tool I usually use to check the historical data doesn't work at home - this means that I can only see numbers of leading cars in real time (and not even those on much of the Uxbridge to Rayners Lane section), not the trailing cab that will lead during the next trip, this means that all I can say about 862 and 870 is that they are not apparently leading anything at the moment. Hope the 867 info helps anyway...

Thanks; I'm currently at Hounslow East eastbound so I should be able to intercept it westbound at Acton.

Hmmm.... The 233, 234 and 235 came in sequence then the next Rayner's / Uxbridge was 163...?

Seen the other two, both still inner end...

Got it; it was the next Uxbridge after the 163.

Glad you managed to catch up with it, I didn't have a timetable to hand, hence only the train number. I've now been able to check 862 and 870, both are still inner cabs as both of their 'pairs' (863 and 871) were in service leading yesterday...

In a reminder that I shouldn't treat expected return to service dates as more than vague indications, I find that 3556 is back in service (on train 232 today), but still no sign of 3543 (or 3238 for that matter)...
