TPE have now accepted almost 50% of the trains. Projecting the average beat-rate of 3 trains per 3 to 4 weeks, we’re looking at December to have all sets accepted.

The attention then comes on to crew training which feels like it’s starting to build. Once it gets moving, it will progress at a good pace, in a similar way to Nova 3. Colleagues have also been Route Learning NCL - EDB in Class 185s so that’s nicely underway.

Ultimately, to make the Dec TT work effectively, the 802s need to be in service in a decent number.

Exciting!

Planning a trip to Newcastle before the end of the year, thinking of waiting until these are in service in a decent enough quantity to be 99% certain I'll catch one, never been on a class 80X before, only ever been on trains built in the last 10 years twice in the UK actually

You can of course get an 80x ride elsewhere - some services on LNER and all GWR IC services. Take a cup of tea if you're getting on one of the latter, you are unlikely to see the trolley.

Unfortunately, I don't live anywhere near either of them and they really aren't useful for the kinds of trips I wanna make.

About this time last year, I managed to justify going from Devon to Surrey, involving what was supposed to be an IET but it got substituted for a HST last minute :(

I'm sure many people on this forum would be overjoyed but I've been on HSTs many a time and was rather exited to try something different!

I think I'm going to try and use the Transpennine Express ones, as they're nearby and go where I want to go! I'll just have to make sure I time my trip for when I can 95% guarantee that I'll get an 802 on at least one leg...

As are Newcastle guards.

Possibly a 802 in traffic this Saturday on one of the early morning departures from Newcastle. We are still being told October 21st which ties in with a link change.

Page 26 of this thread has a couple of photos of Standard. Basically the same as all the other 80x but blue moquette (I think) seats.
Thank you, just took a look and just as I thought, they are the same seats that are in the GWR IEP, just a different colour cloth. From that, Im assuming the First Class seats will be the same style too, just covered in a different colour cloth? Its such a shame the seats were not a bit better in these Hitachi trains, as after riding the GWR IEP's for nearly 2 years now, they seem to be the only thing that a lot of people dislike.

I was at Hull today and saw 802201 depart at 14.15. I see this was 5Z86 to Peterborough. Seeing that TPE is not due to use 802s to Hull, I wondered if this was a training run for Hull Trains.

Perhaps they can lend an Class 802 to West Coast in the future to get driver training started if it's Hitachi that First Trenitalia do order.

Worth noting all GWR 800s now have the replacement seat covers which are resisting staining

I was leaving my house around 8 when I was greeted with a class 802 in full TPE livery. After checking on RTT 9M04 was cancelled and 5Z04 is running on its place ECS. the return service is also cancelled (according to the journey checker). So I think 5E09 will run on its place. Can someone get the unit number?

I reckon 5E09 is the back working. 9M04 is the 06:03 NCL-LIV. That however has been cancelled to surrender a path for 802 training. Something ran as 5E04 from heaton-doncaster IEP ,but cancelled from York. Theoretically that would have replaced the 802 on today's working from Doncaster to Liverpool. So I suspect that may have been a balancing move for a 185 today as 9E09 (as 5E09 is the back working of the 802 that ran earlier in the week) is cancelled today as well.

With 5T04 taking it to Edge Hill.

Balancing run going North if anyone is interested:

I haven't been keeping up with these to be honest and was surprised to see (unbranded) 802218 in Edinburgh Waverley yesterday having arrived on 3S01 from Heaton. 18 seemed like a big number.

19 altogether. They have literally crept in unnnoticed compared to other fleets historically.

Today marks the second in passenger service day and the first to run a full diagram for these units and we should now start to see at least one regular diagram in service with Edinburgh introduced in december.

Seeing 18 did suggest that they must be fairly far along but I wasn't sure if they are/were being delivered in order.

Given the competition between Edinburgh and Newcastle, I'm going to be expecting Advances for less than the price of a Mars bar. ;)

Has the issue preventing the 802s from calling at Chester-le-Street been resolved yet? Or will the unit skip Chester-le-Street when it's booked to call there again today like the unit out two weeks ago did?

An email yesterday implied the goal is for 7 days of Nova 1 in service from today onwards.

I'm going to assume that they meant for the week only and not ongoing?

Sorry if this is covered earlier up the thread but what is the plan during November for introduction? I assume they will need to ramp up quickly with the December timetable change needing them. Will they concentrate on Liverpool- Newcastle or could they appear on Manchester Airport- Newcastle as well?

Supposed to be 2 802s in service with 9M04 06:02 NCL-LIV also scheded but this failed on depot and was replaced with a 185. It is hoped to drop the 802 back in to diagram later
