Richard Clinnick is reporting on Twitter that Porterbrook have decided to donate 43048 and 089 to the 125 group.

Excellent news!

From
@PB_Leasing : “We heard and we listened! Porterbrook will donate 43043 and 43089 to the @125Group.” They will move across once @EastMidRailway is finished with them.
From @PB_Leasing: It’s 43048 NOT 43043 that’s being donated.
...I asked @PB_Leasing when 43s move to the @125Group, and the answer was a firm "unknown".

Awesome news. Look forward to hopefully doing Leicester North to Nottingham once the gap has been bridged.
I see some hard work & busy days coming up for the lads at GCR(N) but it’s nothing they can’t handle.

You can do it on 043 and 089 on the proper line right now!

It's 43048 not 43043. It was clarified just after the initial post.

I presume once any refurbishment repainting done they will do a charity rail tour or two for porterbrook which will be a good use

After the NRM decision this was a very opportune moment for this announcement so here's hoping that the fundraising target is met for the shed and engines and parts to put one back to valenta standard and perhaps the other with it's existing engine but refurbished after a hard life with east midlands trains/railway

Now on 125 Group website: https://www.125group.org.uk/porterbrook-to-donate-hst-power-cars-to-125-group/

125 Group is absolutely delighted to confirm that two mainline power cars will be joining us on a permanent basis, thanks to a fantastic donation by leasing company Porterbrook.

Production Inter-City 125 power cars 43048 and 43089 owned by
Porterbrook and currently operated by East Midlands Railway will be handed over at the end of their careers in front line service.

125 Group was founded in 1994 with the aim of preserving a working Inter-City 125 for future generations. Our volunteers and trustees have given their valuable time, sweat and passionate commitment over the past 25 years, fundraising and building a sound reputation in preservation and with the railway industry, working towards this goal. We are extremely grateful to
Porterbrook for their wonderful, generous donation!

Gives something for 41001 to work with as well.
I've not been on Saturn but it is a pity that we seem unlikely to see 41001 at one end and a 43 at the other as it would be a nice way of working on preserved lines. I assume a 43 has been earmarked for the National Collection, ideally two with a set of Mk3s.

43002 is already at Shildon!

I moved three years ago, used to live pretty much next door but not been recently. Somehow one power car doesn't cut it for this train which did so much for BR, and still does, so good that there will be two donated into preservation.

I'm really pleased at this :wub::wub:!

We're getting closer to seeing a Paxman Valenta-powered HST, with production power cars, in service, for the first time since actually my 18th Birthday, 19/12/10 (I know it was Grand Central who ran the last Valenta in service! I wasn't on the trains that day though.

43002 as mentioned is preserved and isn't 43185 (the one in IC Swallow) also being preserved?
