Apart from one line in the Southwest about 10 years ago, and a couple new-built lines, there hasn't been any electrification of previously unelectrified lines in Sweden for ages, about 50 years probably...

Electrification in Sweden during the last 50 years (year when the electrification was finished) excluding new-built lines:

1978: Siljansbanan (Borlänge-Mora)
1981: Vännäs-Umeå
1992: Umeå-Holmsund
1995: Älvsbyn-Piteå
1996: Ystadbanan (Malmö-Ystad)
1997: Mellansel-Örnsköldsvik and Bastuträsk-Skelleftehamn
2003: Österlenbanan (Ystad-Simrishamn)
2004: Göteborgs Hamnbana (Gothenburg port)
2007: Blekinge Kustbana (Kristianstad-Karlskrona)
2011: Haparandabanan (Boden-Kalix + new line from Kalix to Haparanda/Torneå)
2012: The southernmost part of Inlandsbanan (Kristinehamn-Nykroppa)

And in 2018 the short stretch between Storlien and the Norwegian border was electrified to prepare for an electrification of the rail line on the Norwegian side.

That livery etc does the job. I wonder if they had to pay a lot for a consultant to design that and pay for a fancy paint job ?.

Staggered by how many DBS 66s have left for Europe !. Miracle any 60s are left alive ?.

There nearly were not any 60s left in service - but then they found that 60s could do some jobs better than 66s - mostly very heavy freights passing up steepish gradients.

Awww jealous. That's arguably a rolling program of electrification. Especially if the 1992 one was a big job ?. The 2018 one was not a big job !.

Not sure those are the words I'd use, it been more of here and there-process. The big electrification program was in the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s.

The 2018 project was about 3.5 km or so, and I think it was technically reelectrified as it had been electrified all the way to the border before. 1992 was 16 km so not a big project. But there are a few longer ones in there, like Kristianstad-Karlskrona (129 km), Borlänge-Mora (105 km) and Boden-Haparanda (159 km including the new line).

However, there are still some unelectrified lines and I wish the parliament would fund electrification of those (although, a few more are planned).

66750 hauling 66790/791 Longport - Doncaster

And they are in use at last. Loco 66790 should work to Eastleigh and back to Peterboro tomorrow afternoon. Will head back via Willesden Junction (high level iirc) about 18:00 - 20:00 two choices. Dunno what 66791 is doing yet.

I only spotted this thread as they were due to leave Peterborough. After checking the link to Realtime trains I saw they were due to pass near me around 15 mins later so jumped in the car to try and get a look. Not the best video but all I could do in the circumstances!

Looks like an old, worn-out, graffiti-covered loco. Whoever came up with that livery has quite literally zero design skill.

To be fair, part of that is because the livery is rather dirty having presumably not been cleaned in months, and left out in the open.

Maybe I’m playing devil’s advocate here. But I quite like how unique it is. A pity we won’t see it in service in that kind of a livery!

It actually might mean it does not attract Graffiti because it is dirty and someone has already got to it.

On the other hand I can see a new tagger starting called "Rush Rail" <D.
