Heard rumours that LNER 43313 has had an altercation with an 08 on Bounds Green this week..... Suffering sever damage to the cab.

Anybody know of this is true? Or have any pictures?

Seems it was 43313 v 08441 resulting in a win for the 08, the 43 is said to have some need of surgery which it's unlikely to get

Seen a pic, 313 certainly looks a write off, hell of a gouge out of its driver side front/side. 08 looks unscathed!!!

Yes, the fibreglass cab looks to have taken the brunt of the damage. Nothing that can't be fixed. But with only a few weeks to go until the HST's bow out, and so many services now being diagrammed to IET, there surely must be plenty of spare power cars.

Agreed, but it is the railway after all. It will probably get repaired and a week or so later join the other 43s at Ely

It'll all depend on a number of factors. Those include if and where Angel's spare HST cab is - in which case a few weeks out of service, and if it and the other EC Angel Power Cars are destined for this much touted EC to MML Cascade.

This was the first power car to receive a name, ‘City of Newcastle-upon-Tyne’ in 1983 when numbered 43113. Always been an ECML power car. Can’t honestly see the point repairing it this close to the end.

I know they don't have faces, it isn't W V Awdry and Sodor, they don't have personalities but it does seem an ignominious end to a 40 year career. :( .

Whichever one was stationary was stopped too close to the points I imagine. If I were the fat controller (as opposed to merely...) I'd send the culprit out to apologise to 43313. Apologies for getting silly.

Looks like a one way trip to Rotherham for that power car.

The first of many :D

Rather depends if Angel have another lease lined up for it. The composition of the EMR fleet after this December still isn’t publicly known, for example.

May just be a coincidence but a HST power car without its lower fibreglass "valance" (not sure of the technical term) was on the rear of todays 1E15 ABD-KGX. I'd suspect that it was 43313. It certainly was an interesting sight.

If you looked at the image linked to earlier you would realise it couldn’t possibly be 43313 that is running with no front skirt.

Unless there's been another one, that's 43075 which was withdrawn from service with LNER for that reason along with set NL65 a little while ago. Rumour has it that it'll be stripped for spares at Neville Hill to keep other class members going.

I can't say what happened in detail, but it is pretty obvious from photographs around the internet that circulated a few days after the collision but I was on shift the night this happened. Not a good night to say the least. Just glad no one was hurt.

Up until approx September, HST’s did not go on to Bounds Green as none where stabled overnight in London. Has this now changed.

As Class 80x trains were introduced, we had a HST set that come to BN around 11am, and left at 19:07 to make an evening Leeds service. Also when HSTs were around, ever since I started (3 years ago) on a Saturday into Sunday, we had one that come in for overnight servicing every week.
