Oakham? 'Ye Olde Oak Ham' was much advertised in my youth (and is still going, I see); and Oakham is near Rutland Water. Don't know about the signal box bit.

Oakham is correct, signal box below. Your turn...

Refrained above, because I'd still be basically Net-less for a day and a half. Back on stream -- still Open Floor -- so I'll go ahead.

Small station, imaginably composed of a friendly salutation among young American males; a kind of beetle; and a Maldive.

Bodorgan?

Bo (is it an American greeting?)
A dor beetle is a type of dung beetle
Gan is an island in the Maldives

You're absolutely right. I'd thought "Bo" (short for "boy" and / or "brother") largely anyway, an Americanism of this kind. (I gather that some people derive the word "hobo" from a customary greeting, one itinerant to another -- "Ho, Bo !)

Along those lines -- "Yo' flo' !"

As I set the previous clue I'll give someone else the chance to set the next one. If that offer isn't taken up within 24 hours I'll set another one.

(I couldn't bring myself to type the full name out. I'm a Preston North End fan ;) )

This is where a Grand Governess engraves dragons by the sea. Or should it really be grass?
