Not sure if you really understand what I tried to describe.

The bus shows the wrong route number.

I can understand overlooking a few of the comfort factors or even something that might adversely affect people with reduced mobility. But surely a bus company can't think it is OK to have a vehicle in service that displays the wrong route number on the front. Admittedly the nearside LED display was accurate.
Bus shouldn’t be in service displaying the incorrect route number. This goes against both DDA and the service registration.

Indeed, sadly the Scottish TC Office seem quite laid back when it comes to non-compliant displays, loads of smaller operators still get away with vehicles having no side/rear display and non-operational front display. While the formats on displays are often not compliant too, for example Xplore Dundee got a informal warning earlier this year because all their displays had the final destination in capital letters which is not compliant to PSVAR (DDA being the incorrect name often associated with the regulations). While certain areas within Stagecoach have numerous vehicles with non-functioning displays, missing displays, wrong type of displays or buses where the display is not fully visible.

I have never understood the rule regarding capital letters in the display. Sometimes it's actually easier to read for some people if it's in capitals! It was after all, okay back in the day https://www.flickr.com/photos/michaelst138/49015859476 (not my photo)
I think one of the worst issues however is when a bus displays the complete wrong number, for example I seen a bus not long ago displaying 36 when it was a 35 (was a B7TL with blinds, going to Riccarton, on Commercial St where both 35 AND 36 stop). Enough to confuse anyone including a local!
Also, this to me is worse than all capital letters https://www.flickr.com/photos/quomaneastlothian/48959445196/ (not my pic) but the display is squashed. If this were all capitals, it would look better - or just larger size font.

think they shoulnt gave changed them in the first place as the old ones were still in good condition and easier to read. if they were to change 201-215, 401-425, 551-570 it would have been better to use the ones on older buses/new builds as those are easier to read but as i think it was omnicity999 who said was just changed that due to not needing to take out wiring or that

I believe it is due to many people with visual impairments finding it more difficult to read ALL CAPITAL displays, because every letter is the same height. From a bus operators perspective, standard Upper/Lower case should be used because that is what the DDA/PSVAR regulations stipulate.

Apologies, mis-read on my part... Aye, that shouldn't happen, or be allowed to happen.
No probs. From the tracker it looks like this vehicle is being used on service 2 today. Haven't witnessed it in person but hopefully the number 2 is available somehow!

I had concidered this, however a family member who has a visual impairment said she found it easier with all capitals as it was larger to see the destination, just like the example I sited with the older buses with blinds. Another family member who also has a visual impairment (although at a much worse degree) said she felt as long as the name was in clear font, it was okay (be it all caps or a mix). I think with some of Lothian's fleet, the destination name is squashed like my example above of 209 is what causes the most issues among VI folk IMO.

What happened to the Volvo Evora? I know it was a demo ,but I have not seen it in a while, so I assume it has gone back to Volvo, but it does not seem to have gone to any other company either? Personally, I liked it when I had a trip on it, but I personally prefered the lack of bandit screen (although I know why they are all installed).

Wasn't it due a stint on ECB duties too? I don't think that materialised?

Looks like 308 had an incident while on route 1. Looks like it hit a patch of black ice and hit in to the railings at Saughton Road/Broomhouse Road. It's sitting now in Longstone Depot.

I saw the ultimate in broken roller displays today at Heriot Watt with 131. The thing was displaying Pencaitland on route 56 when it drove in, which confused the hell out of me, with a wonky 6 stuck halfway between 6 and 7.

Eventually realized it was actually the 45... These things need to be fixed or done away with.
