i use recenttraintimes.co.uk and it seems quite good, but sometimes it will say unknown journey or something and in that case i'd like to consult another site to check, which ones would people advise?
It's mainly to see the times trains arrived late in order to make a delay repay claim
RTT doesn't have the storage of data over 7 days old. With RTT you need to look for the train you want, not the route. So you would enter STP and the time of departure, it will give you all the trains around that time then you need to find your train. You have to get the data within 7 days of your journey, or else they may remove it from access. And some options to filter the results are not available after the end of the day when the train runs.
That always happens for LNER trains at Inverkeithing. I believe it's something to do with the fact that the front of the train goes past the signal at the end of the station (as it's too long for the platform) so occupies the next track circuit when stationary. You can’t trust RTT. The train I am currently on (0952 Aberdeen to Kings X) is show “not stopping” at Inverkeithing. We just stopped there!

Now that I did not know... Thanks.RTT does have older data in the system, you just can't search for it directly. If you change the URL manually you can still get old results, eg https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/P58618/2019-05-20/detailed
