I applied in June for trainee depot driver for GA. I have finally heard back this week and have an assessment center booked for next Wednesday. Anyone else heard back yet?

I applied for Norwich. Spoke to somebody who works at their depot as a shunter and he said to email saying how much I want to work for them and how interested I am in the new fleet they are getting. They never replied but suddenly out of the blue I got an email inviting me for assessment so it just might have worked.
Really worried about the Mmi as I'm not sure I have enough experience but hopefully even if I fail I will know what to work on and what experience to go and get

Don’t be put off by the MMI and certainly don’t think you have to have loads of experience in anything in particular to be able to pass it. You can use seemingly mundane experiences from everyday life for example.

Can I just add that I know a lot of people from the railway who failed their MMI and I think it's because of overthinking (I failed the first time too). And I used to find it baffling that people are coming off the streets with only retail experience and managing to pass. It's just about how you can relate your past experience or everyday type of life to the job. Even the preserving q I'm sure I know of someone who used planning their wedding an example lol so it doesn't even have to be job related !!!

Multi-Modal Interview. It’s basically a competency based interview and forms part of the psychometric testing.

Ok thanks I’ve heard of the psychometric test thanks

Best thing to do is pratice from now because sometimes they may hit you with an assesment date after 7 days of contacting you. Check out the bourndon sticky. Research the MMI questions.

I don’t think there’s much chance of a position in Colchester anytime soon... I believe they are currently fully staffed

Part of it was probably forward thinking for the new rolling stock & increased services. Which has been delayed.

Why would they advertise a position if there’s not much of a chance thanks
Rumour was they had plans to put a wheel lathe in near harwich international station, the drivers needed for shunts there would of been based at Colchester, So GA Upped staff to supply harwich, I believe this plan has been scrapped, im told Colchester depot already has a full roster
