Judging by the reaction on various social media platforms to this news, you'd think there'd been a death in the family. Some of the gushing over Hamish by the frothers over the last few years has been on a par with winners' speeches at the Oscars.

I don't recall any mass mourning happening in 1995 when Atlantean 658 was painted back into fleet livery after spending ten years as an overall advert for the Daily Record and Sunday Mail newspapers, but we didn't have social media back then. It was repainted without any fuss or fanfare.

Frothers, take note!

It's a bit of fun, a way to raise the profile of a charity partnership, something that seems to have gone down well with the public.

There are people on here desperate to find any evidence of people complaining about Lothian on Twitter (which, given that people complain about anything and everything on Twitter, is hardly surprising)... now there's complaints that people are saying positive things about the bus company on Twitter... they really can't win!

In a world of corporate liveries and poor customer communications, we have an example of a bus company that have generated lots of positive reactions from passengers and the general public, added a bit of colour, generated a bit of a "buzz"...

Once again you post a sensible reply on a Lothian thread @tbtc - well done.

whats this for like? what ones are done?

Parallel hybrids. To save money and not buy any more second hand. We've been looking at parallel hybrids and other alternative drive methods. Two buses have been trialled on. I've covered this earlier in the thread.

But something 'not as old' in Lothian terms is a B9TL or a B5TL which are already Euro 5 or 6...so there'd be no need. What's the point in wasting a useable vehicle. Use an older one prove the system and re use older buses to get as much profit out them as possible.

They used an older vehicle which was considered life expired and therefore the company wouldnt lose a valuable useable vehicle...

Why can't Lothian just be honset with the public? The real reason there are no xmas day buses is because mid lothian council will not pay.. Unlike West and East Lothian.

Bus 418 has received a bus wrap. Picture by Keith (KM_Edinburgh) on Flickr. Not posting due to copyright reasons. Seems to have no Lothian branding on it.

Edinburgh Council own 91%.

CEC 91%, Midlothian 5.5%, East Lothian 3.1%,West Lothian 0.4%. The share allocation is based on the percentage of route mileage that LRT, as it was then, operated in the relevant council areas when Lothian Region was split in 1996.

Strangely a few members had already replied but it appears their posts got deleted!

I noticed that as well, quite shocking really as there was nothing is those posts that broke the rules. If the Admins are going to delete posts that don't break the rules then perhaps they should have the decency to say why they have been deleted...

352 on the 3 today

352 was possibly at Longstone yesterday too as was out in the 44 but as we know the 44 also works out of Central so we can't be sure.

Central has allocated 3 B5TL's to the 44 today out of it's Monday to Friday allocation of 5 vehicles.

Are you sure it was this thread? There were similar posts about the percentages in the West Lothian thread.

I never saw any other replies regarding this in this thread .... so quite possibly, I think we all pretty much read/comment on both threads... also, if posts were deleted, wouldn't there be a gap in the post count? As it stands the post numbers are running consecutively....

I see the Hogmanay services have been announced. In East Lothian there are now services to Dunbar and North Berwick running. This is great but quite rightly us people in Ormiston aren’t happy our daily night bus isn’t running for this one night of the year - yet the rest of the East Coast towns and villages get a service when they only get one at the weekend!
Hopefully others can see the illogicality (? - don’t know if that’s a word) in this.
If nothing else it just proves ECB seem to forget Ormiston and Pencaitland exist.

...rant over ...

Bus 14 was in service on the 22 for most of the day.
As the 22 is a double decker service, this is very strange. Anybody know what could have possibly caused this to happen?

It's a bus, that's available...

A busy route with buses sometimes bunching, it doesnt necessarily matter.
