I’m not entirely convinced this will be the actual customer facing name. IMO this will be the new company name and they will have a trading name.

Like how West Midlands Trains is the TOC / Company name and West Midlands Railway / London Northwestern Railway are the trading names.

This then allows them to have 2 distinct brands for the classic west coast services and then something different for when HS2 starts

I do hope your right, because i'm not overwhelmed with "AVANTI WEST COAST" with a little orange triangle, if that's what it's to be!!

I think this is more likely to be the case. 'Avanti' might be the brand name for the joint venture between First and Trenitalia - similar to Govia (Go Ahead and Keolis).

With the West Midlands example, the West Midlands Trains logo was released before we saw the actual branding for LNR/WMR.

I'd agree it's a stylised representation of the rump network (roughly a triangle Euston-Brum-North West/Euston-Trent Valley-Manchester, though I know they don't serve Manchester to Scotland!) - a bit like the SWR logo.

Is the logo a little orange triangle because that's what the replacement bus drivers have to display when they break down? <D

I'm sure First Travel Solutions will hire in only the highest quality operators...

221110 has lost its crest on at least one end (other half was coupled up), but has Virgin logos at both ends on the sides.

Aye some shields have gone, some nameplates removed but slow at removing Virgin titles off 221s, maybe because only one depot doing the stripping, where as several depots doing the 390s and being freshly applied are easy to remove.
Any more naked 390s to report? See list page 17.

390117 should be neutral as of 5 November if what I wrote down when I last went on it is correct..

Is it me or does this orange Avanti (triangle) logo appear far too corporate to be the public brand, i.e. on the side of the trains?
It looks more like what they'd have on corporate letterheads imo. Maybe this is to be the corporate name as suggested by others?
The logo just doesn't seem to have that 'glam' factor. Unless the livery is really imaginative and wows the whole thing up.
I couldn't imagine the existing ghost livery with just this on the front and rear cabs though?

Is it really any worse than:

swr-logo-wp-news.jpg

SWR logo featuring a similar concept of stylised line diagram

Though I suppose there is a chance as some have said that it'll be "London, Midland and Scottish Railway, operated by Avanti West Coast" - it is on a similar level of basicness as the "wmtraiiins" device Abellio came up with then promptly forgot about:

Bus with "wmtraiiins" device on it - now what other bad things does one find on the side of a bus? :)

I'm not saying it's bad, not at all. It looks very professional. But it's a public facing train operator with high-speed tilting trains, not an office supplies firm. Especially considering how important VT have made their brand.
Is that logo on a white train going to get people excited the way waiting for a Virgin Train did? I'm not sure. Unless as said the livery is really wow and all over colour. This logo might fit nicely on the right background colour.

Well this appears to be a very similar red, and the Trenitalia logo isn't exactly fancy either? (It amuses me how similar it is to the FirstGroup "F-in-circle" or "Flying F" - I wonder who had it, er, first?)

I get my LPG from Avanti Gas (formerly Shell Gas), and I've just bought an Avanti kettle and toaster.
Evidently becoming a popular brand.
