Has 116 been for it's digital mods (and hopefully new seat covers) as it's already PRM'd?
I had 116 out on its first run this evening and it's not had anything noticeable done on it - the seat covers are still the blue flat cloth with a few stains, and the TrainFX system still had the same fault that had been reported almost three weeks ago, had I done things to the book I could have failed it :|

I was on 150203 this morning (0850 Wigan Wallgate to Man Picc), and either the engine kept cutting out in one half (that I was sat in), or it's been fitted with some sort of stop/start or fuel saving thing.
Can anyone offer any thoughts?
Prob just a problem with the fuel system. Unfortunately Northerns refresh work does not include overhauling anything mechanical.

Engine repeatedly cutting out is more often than not low coolant level on 150s, although it can be plenty of other things.

Refurbished 158755 was on the 15.30 Sheffield to Hull and Bridlington service today. I was on it as far as Beverley.

Quite - I very much doubt that Northern's twitter team attempted the complex arithmetic of @Harvey B 's calculation. Especially since the tweet included a graphic with the original 243 number. Too much of a coincidence that 243+17+8=268!
I think that the social media team will only go by what their told by the higher ups in Northern and they'll most likely give some stock answer. At a guess Northern are either 1) counting the WMT 323 cascades as well as their own 323s as part of the fleet going in for refurbishment (this makes sense)

2) they're counting the 319s as part of the the units being refurbished which to me doesn't make sense as they're leaving unless plans have changed and some of them are staying to make up the 268 units. (Is it even possible to count these as refurbished units even if they leave the fleet)

Or the final way is if they're counting the '170 equivalents' as part of the units to be refurbished (like the first option this also makes sense to make up the 268 units)

Does it really matter?

All
northern’s legacy fleet of 200+ units is being refurbished. Isn’t that all we need to know?

Precise figures have changed from the start and will possibly/probably change again. It’s starting to get grating all this fudging of figures and presuming this and that to make things fit.

In my vast railway experience it’s best to just sit back and see what unfolds and worry about far more important stuff.

268 Units is not clear enough to me? Does it include the 319s and if it does why are they included if they're leaving? If not, Does it include the 'turbostar eqivalents' or does it include the 323s from WMT?

As above, it doesn’t matter. Just drop it, will you?

I would say the revised number of 268 does include the 319s, although I personally think it makes sense to include the 319s which have been refurbished in that total (even though they're going off lease, they've still been refurbished).

As far as I know, the Turbostar equivalent units aren't included in the new total, as I think what's happened is the extra 323s and the 769s have been added to the original number of 243 units. I can appreciate it doesn't really make much sense, but it is what it is.

Hopefully this helps.

Is there an up to date of what has so far been renovated please?
I know nearly all the 333's/170's have been completed and all the 155's are completed.

Northerns original numbers were changed months ago when they ordered a few extra CAF units and agreed to swap out the class 319 with the much better class 323 so it is pointless sticking to the numbers that was agreed on the original franchise agreement, further more to keep things simple their customer service team will be working off the same script and using the same graphics that was created at the start of the franchise.

333 002,4,5,6,7,16 still to do.
333 002 is at Holbeck being redecorated.
333 009 is or was at Doncater RTC to investigate bolster area cracks. Is it still there?
K
A refurbished 333 is in Derby RTC if this helps. Could be 333009?

Paths Neville hill to and from Crewe Wed 20th. Most likely 158s.
Ex Scotraill 158 786 is next due back being at Crewe since 16th Oct.
Also at Crewe since 28the Oct is ex Scotrail 158 789 this being the last 158/0 to PRM and 158 901 since 6 Nov.
May be of interest.

Both paths NL to Crewe and return ran. Anyone know which units where involved and which units are at Crewe works??
The northbound one is probably 158 786 which i think has had a full interior makeover including removing its former Scotrail 1st class area.
