It might be the light, but the blue looks a slightly brighter shade.

The revised livery looks much better and less Transdev Pride of the North

It's a Best Impressions trademark at this point (despite the fact that this particular example is not even a BI design!). They have a two tone base with a diagonal split and then put a vinyl pattern over or near the the split. It hate to sound like my normal grump self when it comes to new liveries being launched, but it's very boring at this point. It's a shame because some of these marketing companies can and do come up with good designs.

The diagonal bands around the front wheel are far too subtle - the big black windows and the large advert break them up, so that the diagonal is spread over four separate parts, and the top three sections are so short that you'd barely notice them

The diagonal at the rear of the vehicle is better, it isn't broken up by anything else - but the whole think looks like the kind of colour scheme that would work okay on a blank sheet of paper but too "complicated" for a modern bus (where the windows/adverts ruin the flow of any diagonal lines.

My bigger problem would be what passengers refer to the company as... is it "the Manchester bus"? "the MCR bus"? "Go North West" is significantly smaller than the other two brands on the side of the bus, so it looks like they can't decide what to call themselves (and this isn't even on a bus dominated by route branding).

I like most of the Go liveries in north eastern England (most, but not all), but the north western versions look poor in comparison.

The new MCR Manchester scheme is a Best Impressions design.

Sorry....thought it was just a tidying up of the original livery by Buzz. Hadn’t seen that tweet so clearly I’m wrong.

Thanks for putting me right

No worries, it's extra confusing as the original livery looked like it should have been by BI, but wasn't! (albeit the original didn't have the same rich/overly fiddly detail* that you might expect from a true BI scheme)

*delete as appropriate depending on your views of their work ;)

Which begs the question... why didn’t they just get best impressions in to start with?!

I think the Buzz people came in for some flack (especially on social media) regarding the similarities to BI’s work. Wonder what happened to them?

Not keen on the central focus on MCR when they operate in Rochdale, Salford & Bury etc... and the writing above the door is extremely hard to read, the logo on the side is to small.. Butttt, at least it is now only slightly the same as Transdevs PoTN, as opposed to being practically the same.....

The depot is in Manchester though and many of the operations are. Think they'll be ok

The livery does look a bit brighter in that tweet. Would still have preferred something a little less low key....
