9 they had 19 in total we have 10 for the 41 if we get the other 9 a believe they will be banded for the 5

Would be good for the 5 to get them tbh. Not a massive route but absolutely well used with areas that buses are prioritised by residents more over cars. Will also mean the 34/34A and 75 have new buses and the 5 would have close to brand new buses. Good for Castlemilk as an area

The 5 is a busy route and would benefit from newer buses for sure. Will these 19 E400MMCs altogether allow for anything to be withdrawn or scrapped (ie remaining 53 plate stock)?

Not heard anything regarding these vehicles coming to Glasgow but that doesn't mean they ain't! - In regards to vehicle's being withdrawn if they come then yes we will see the oldest decker stock leaving for scrap or transferred to another depot for further use.

One of the most interesting things in 2020 is going to be finding out what First do with the 10/57 and the 60. Between them they must need 50-60 double deckers, so they’ll need something in place either this year or next. Only First know how these routes perform, but I’m not convinced that they have the resources to simply bring in new stock. I’d guess that the 60 is the stronger route, but it’s telling that the 61 only got refurbs. So what will First do – doing nothing isn’t an option. The 57a seems to get a lot more single-deckers than it used to, so maybe that’s a solution, but not really practical for the 10/57. If First had a more normal approach to fleet replacement there might be more nearly new stock to cascade in from around the UK, but there’s not a lot to choose from, and I’m guessing multiple opcos will have their eyes on anything that comes up for grabs.

Not really any stock to refurbish , perhaps will get new buses in time.

The 60/60A are definitely busy in patches but the horrific reliability plays a massive part in that. It's very common to even have both together at Bearsden towards the City Centre and the other way is even worse. Had plenty of occasions where people have said they've waited 45/50mins on either bus to turn up and just before Christmas 3 Clydebank 60s came together at Maryhill when I went for one. Think it would benefit from a route trim more than anything since it's massive.

I'm surprised they never cut the 57 route when the 10 was cut. Could have easily just made an 85/86/87 trio with the 57/57A cut

You're right - I just don't know how First square the need to comply with the LEZ with their lack of bawbees. Obviously there's new stock to come, but new fleet for the 10/57 and the 60 would be a hefty investment.

They have 3 years to do something about it - by 31 December 2022.

Sorry a wee bit late with this. Airport decker on Christmas Eve opposite the Crow wood hotel, Muirhead. A rather unusual sighting.

The 60/60A can get just about anything on it really. It’s a busy route certainly over here in the east end it is anyway. It’s had a lot more singles on it in recent years but they tend to be pretty busy in that case. The 61 is a route which is always busy and I’m pretty surprised it never got new stock and the refurbished B9TLs went to the 60/60A. I would be surprised if any of these routes got new stock tbh I’d imagine more newer stock transferred in from elsewhere.

I wonder when the new order will be announced for 2020.

Just out of interest how many more buses are needed to be compliant with LEZ does anyone know in the region?

It is likely First Glasgow just made the 40% limit with new buses and conversions, if someone could work it out from that. McGills have said they were at 52% compliant by December 2019.

Going by the latest I can find for First they had a fleet of 815 in June 2019 so would be 326 if it's exactly 40%. Latest for Mcgills I can find is 2016 with 400+ buses. Would need something more recent to get a true guide of theirs but I doubt the First one is that far off

Only something like 150 of McGills need to comply, unsure about First, could be around 75/80% of the fleet.

Would be somewhere in between 610 and 660 if it was based on the fleet figure I've mentioned with 75/80%. Still think they will manage pretty well to cover it all if it's as high as that. I do expect a lot of price increases as this goes on tbh with customer numbers falling and costs of the LEZ really kicking in

I understand not ever route comes under the LEZ zone so it’s not like the full fleet has to be compliant but a lot of routes which don’t fall under this have been upgraded (ie Lanarkshire’s buses). Most of the buses which aren’t being converted will be retired by 2022 anyway so I’m imagining pretty much all of the fleet should be Euro 6 by that date. I can’t see FIG being that organised that they have buses which aren’t Euro 6 compliant as they always mix and match buses depending on cover so having them all just seems easier?

Really???? Never heard of Glasgow's Airport buses going off route ever and would be very strange given their spec... Seen them get around the place on taxi duties tho

I’m pretty sure when the E200MMCs were here one made it on to the X85/X87 due to severe shortages at Caley a few years back. This was very rare however.

Does anyone know what the changes for the 240,255,263 and 267 from 2nd of February are? There is a route and stopping places change in for all 4 so I’m assuming the change will be in the city centre.
