Wonder what Kernow will do with their timetable book, givien that they won't be operating the CC services, will we have to put up with the out of date book from April until the Summer timetable starts in May or will they do another one?

And will Go Cornwall just do pocket books until May and then produce proper timetables from then

Personally, I think they should extend the Summer timetable from April until September, and just list when the Summer only services start like they currently do with the A2-A4, or will only the online timetables change in April?
The sensible thing would be one book jointly funded by CC, FK and PCB and as wideky available as the current FK book.

Something like that would need to be done, alright for us locals as we have seen the news, but visitors may not know about the change in operator, and be pilling on the 50 to St Mawes or the 16 to St Ives with their Kernow tickets as the book tells them its a Kernow service

It's online only, which is pretty useless for most people.

no it’s not. I’ve got a hard copy from Newquay bus station. Believe it’s stocked at library’s and council buildings open to public
It’s A5 size

Well if the council do it it’s hardly going to be an attractive Best Impressions publication like the Kernow one, so it’d be a step down.

I haven't not been able to get one for years. They're not kept anywhere in Penzance, including the library / council office.

Indeed - and, at one time, they were available at First's enquiry offices in Pz and Truro, which is where I always got mine. The replacement for Pz, the National Trust Visitor Centre, only stocks the First one. I'll ask Nick Hood, the Manager, to try to obtain the CC one and let everyone know the result. He's a bigshot in Penzance BID, which has the council's tacit approval, and supposedly works to increase the number of visitors to the area.

I saw 33142 on a U1/U2 at Falmouth Moor this morning.
According to the tracker its been replaced by 33235 now, with 32758 also now helping out on the U1/U2 routes

The number of Uni buses on the U1-U4 has improved since the arrival of 33301/02 and 32757, don't see as many different branded buses those services

Although personally I quite like a variety of buses and liveries on routes

I don’t observe the routes regularly but when I do there is usually at least one Trident covering on either the U1, U2 or U4.

The Atlantic Coasters seem to be a popular choice for the U4. "Cornwall by Kernow - redefining Cornwall’s geography". :D

I've noticed that, seems to be an all round thing as well, Tinners seem also to be the popular cover for the U4, that or barbie/urban tridents, as they seem to try and keep 33470-79 on U1/U2s, maybe when the next batch of Geminis come they will be used on the U4 as they should be quite suited to that route with their spacious interiors and large windows, as the loss of the CC services shoudn't displace too many double deckers

What I would like to see is refurbished Geminis on the A17. The route has been dealt a poor hand. It was supposed to get all new buses last year but the late realisation that the Solos would have insufficient capacity meant two of these being delivered in green and operating elsewhere. Then in the Summer the three new Solos disappeared altogether for the season and knackered Tridents were the order of the day, with the occasional Tinner thrown in.

Before the Solos were mentioned, I suggested that it was a service that might get new fleet but that I thought it would get long e200mmc. Was a bit surprised when they appeared but FK know the loadings so you assume they'd be ok.

"the loss of the CC services shoudn't displace too many double deckers" - I'm assuming that the main vehicles affected will be the short Darts and the ex everywhere e200s(used in Helford but also 46/47), the Solos and Tridents on the Lizard, and some of the e200mmc in North Cornwall?

The mmc might head to GA as council owned and the others.... guess it depends on what FK do in terms of commercial developments.

Wonder where the A17 Solos will go during the hight of summer this year, maybe on one of Kernow's yet to be announced new commercial routes may be, be stupid for them to spend the summer at Penzance or Camborne Depot

The Gemini's might be on a bit of everything like the Barbie/Urban Tridents are currently, on the A1 one day and the 93 the next

Can any of you with recollections of the mid-1990s remember why Cawlett obtained their two 19-seat Merc 609Ds, 901/2 (M901/2 LTT), please? I recall that, almost as soon as First had acquired Cawlett, the pair was whisked off to Cornwall! I caught up with one at St Austell. Thanks.

If you look at the list of tendered services, they’re nearly all single decker routes, barring evening workings where odd journeys on otherwise commercial services.

have heard today GA are directing their entire brand new bus order of 90 vehicles to Plymouth. However from driver gossip they don’t sound very suitable vehicles for most of the tendered routes!

I imagine it'll result in all the old Solos going, bar a handful for Mousehole, plus as you say the Darts, E200s and 16 of the E200MMCs, but of course it all depends on the extent of new commercial services.

I imagine that the four Lizard Tridents will stay, displacing older Tridents.

On the other hand, if FK wins most or all of the school contracts then it's all up in the air!

PCB Seems to have form in this, including sending Citairo's and long Plaxton SPDs on the 11 to Padstow.

90 vehicles diverted from other parts of the country because contracts were awarded to one operator!

I’m still curious whether it would pass with the CMA... basically blocking small independents from being able to succeed and wiping out independents work, hopleys, Summercourt Travel both spring to mind. Neither of which would have the resources for 130 vehicles
