How is it wrong?! Even the most rose tinted glass wearing of you have to admit these are not fit for purpose in 2020. Happy to see a few preserved, but memories of being bounced around in these things on the likes of the Tyne Valley line for hours aren't good. Whilst I appreciate they changed the face of the railways in the 90s only the die hards will miss them.
Absolutely no, there time will no doubt be extendeddo we really all think the 769s will be ready by then?
I've seen one or 2 over the past 3ish days, however, it's been rather quiet near "The Curve" which is a bit of a shame.Leeds (and therefore Wakefield) will continue to see them on Sheffield stoppers pretty much as long as Sheffield still has them, I'd have thought...
That is of course including 144s- if we're talking just 142s then unless any sneak down the Calder Valley attached to Sprinters we may have already seen the last of them in service there.
Is that Pacers in general or specific types? As I said I'd be surprised if any 142s find their way to Wakefield, as they can only run with other units and only the Sheffield via Moorthorpe is likely to be more than a single unit.I've seen one or 2 over the past 3ish days, however, it's been rather quiet near "The Curve" which is a bit of a shame.
Only 144s are up that way. All 142s are at newton Heath or Heaton waiting for transfer to newton heathIs that Pacers in general or specific types? That's as I thought, just wasn't sure which was meant by the post I'd quoted. If 142s had been working solo, it'd be going in my "little black book of Northern non-compliance"...Only 144s are up that way. All 142s are at newton Heath or Heaton waiting for transfer to newton heath
144s are only at Heaton for maintenance I believe as Neville Hill was presumably a bit full.Only 144s are up that way. All 142s are at newton Heath or Heaton waiting for transfer to newton heath
Because services are now being short formed and crowded.
If you can call what they do at Newton Heath maintenance.Went to newton Heath today and saw a pacer sat inside the shed. Glad to see that northern are still maintaining there fleet of pacers not dumping them to the side once they have broken

Not enough gaffer tape clearly.I went on 142004 today, it had quite a bad engine vibration on one of the carriages; possibly an engine mounting.
no change there then.
Lol!!!Not enough gaffer tape clearly.
I was referring to Todmorden curve, I should have made it clearer in the first place. Is that Pacers in general or specific types? Not forgetting that most new mills and rose hill trains that were always 4 car are now permanently diagramed as 2 cars since the new timetableFor the past few years, many Atherton line services have been formed of four carriages as has Wigan to Alderley Edge and Wigan to Stalybridge. Since the massive 142 withdrawals last month, most are now just a single unit. I eagerly await the 769s.

Question how many more 142’s maybe roumered for preservation asides...
...and privately owned 142033...
are they’re possibly going to be others.
almost all workings i see now are 2 carI was in Manchester on Wednesday last week and all the Rose Hill workings I saw were 4 cars (142+150). The 2 New Mills i saw were one Class 156 & one 142+150 combo.
Or are we talking weekend workings?
they are going to have it for a very long time, its at a police collageWhat I can say is that 142033 is not actually preserved. It has been obtained by South Wales Police for conversion to use for training purposes. From what I know about railway vehicles used by emergency services in the past, there might not be much of it left by the time those training purposes are completed.

on weekends or weekdays?
I saw numerous 2 car 150s on the Alderley Edge workings but on the Sheffield/Marple/Rose Hill they were nearly all 4s.
