My spouse used my season ticket yesterday afternoon.
It was a monthly 'keycard' ticket and the guard challenged her on the train.
When she presented the card she was told it wasn't allowed and that it was confiscated as her ID didn't match the registered owner. She was told the season card could be reclaimed at the next station (Tonbridge).
She was then sold a full fare ticket.
She was not asked for any further information and the guard moved on up the carriage.
Given other threads on this forum I would have imagined a statement needed to be taken in order for the rail company to take the matter further. Is this the case?
Am I likely to get the ticket back and if so will I be required to make a statement when I do so.

This would the normal procedure, so I think it seems likely they won't take it forward, but the only reason for taking a statement is to try and generate evidence for a prosecution. If the train company wanted to prosecute your wife, they've made life harder for themselves (though not impossible) by not trying to collect extra evidence at the time. A busy guard checking tickets may not have the time to take a statement, though, so I don't think it means we can guarantee they won't try.

Well if they've said it is, I don't see why not. I suppose they could try and take evidence from you when you come to collect the season ticket so I would be prepared to try and say as little as possible when collecting it.

Went to the station and retrieved my card. No questions asked.
Very big lesson learned however.
Thanks for your helpful comments.
