Hi, a colleague has helpfully told me about ticket splitting and how this may save me a little on my (new, as of March) journey fom St Leonards Warrior Square to London terminals, does this work on this route?

Any advice very much gratefully received, staring in terror at the annual cost! thanks x

What is your actual London destination, and are you prepared to travel the long way round via East Croydon? How often do you expect to be travelling, and do you need to travel in the morning peak?

Yes apologies- it's an annual season ticket peak time, I will be getting the 07:29 or 07:47 from St Leonards Warrior Square going to either London Bridge or Charing Cross (ideally Charing Cross although the timings aren't quite right so probably London Bridge) it will be the quickest direct, ie not East Croydon- thank you.

Fares priced by Southern tend to be a bit cheaper than ones Southestern price, so you can save a bit by using one of those. A Pevensey Bay-New Cross season ticket with route "via London", for example, is a few pounds cheaper. The route is something like this*. You can miss off the first and last bits of the route, to make it a St Leonards-London journey.

There may be cheaper options if you buy more than one season ticket, so that you change from one to the other at a station your train passes through without stopping, but it's a bit harder to show that your tickets are valid if you can't get a web site to show the tickets with the trains you're actually using.
