Alway nervous about posting this kind of thing in case I have found a loophole and LNER staff will fix if. However the LNER booking engine has got an option to pick where you change trains.
I have noticed on journeys between Market Rasen and Welwyn Garden City that if I select change at Lincoln I get offered cheaper fare then changing at Newark.
This journey uses the same trains. Is this a promotion to encourage people to travel from Lincoln and because my change is at Newark it picks from the Newark fare basket? Why is Newark the default changing point when it doesn’t actually matter but people would prefer to be on the LNER rather than the 153?
(Hopefully this isn’t a mistake and people from Lincoln will be sticking pins in me as their price goes up)
Just for clarity the EMR services run Market Rasen - Newark Northgate. LNER follow Lincoln - Newark Northgate - London. So it make no difference to time which operator you use between Lincoln and Newark it is just where you change.
