I`m trying to gain some information about this site, is there anywhere you can gain a good vantage points for the stored 142`s, many thanks in advance.

Not sure, I have tried on google maps but it all looks too far away

Yes I checked it out on Google Earth but thank you anyway, there appears to be a farm track leading in that direction, I guess I`ll have to drive over and check it out.

A few years back when I was more into photography, my commute took me near Gascoigne Wood on a daily basis so I often swung by on my way home.
If you come off the A162 at Common Lane and follow it all the way to the end (where it crosses the railway at Hagg Lane crossing) - that brings you to here:

The 142's and HST's are stored in the sidings to the left of the photo (you can see the line that leads into them). You could probably get a telephoto shot from the opposite side of the crossing, but I'm not sure how much you'd be able to see.
By far the better shot would be from the bridge you can see in the background. I've seen some images from this bridge and they give a great view of the site, but I never managed to work out how to get up there. At the time when I regularly visited, it was heavily used by Gypsum lorries and had a large security presence. I'm pretty sure it's private property but prepared to be corrected if anyone knows otherwise!

The bridge in the background is within what used to be NCB Gascoigne Wood Mine site and to access it you need to enter the site from the road from Sherburn in Elmet Station B1222 Bishopdyke Road towards Biggin & Wistow / Selby direction. The you turn off this road and have to enter the site which is private property and also the bridge over the railway which gave access from one side of the site to get to the MGR bunkers loading area and MGR spoil bunker. That will be why they are been stored at this site as its quite safe area as access is difficult to get anywhere near the stored trains and security I guess will be on site too.
