Now regardless about the 314

it’s highly unlikely any will be saved not sure what 204’s fate in the year will be but I suppose all of us are going to have to wait and see.

must be ashame when Bo’ness never got the chance to get one possibly due to issues and lack of space well if they’re going to literally buy a unit they have to get one car but it would Have to only be displayed that’s the issue to have a unit stuffed and mounted.

well I do not know many heritage railways in Scotland well I can name some.

Caledonian Railway at Brechin could but not likely they maybe not getting one but that could be a possibility or unlikely scenario.

Fife Heritage Railway only are a light railway of industrial stock unlikely good for a 314 to go their.

Strathspey Railway could but highly unlikely I mean depends but no.

Kieth and Dufftown Railway could but like Pacer prototype 140001 they could do same for a 314 as display only.

Scottish Industrial Railway Centre is a no.

Waverley Route Heritage Association could but no by my opinion however you never know.

Summerlee Museum could although it’s needs to be static beside the Half preserved 311 that is.

So yeah I do not know what’s happening we for now do not know I suppose we wait and find out but it’s highly unlikely.

To properly preserve a unit you need covered storage, which is a premium for most preservation sites and apart from Boness is not available at any of the above.

The 311 is in a right mess at Summerlee. It’s a bit of a waste of time it being there tbh. It’s a shell of its former self and the windows are all boarded up. It’s literally out in the cold rotting away. Unless they are going to preserve them properly and have money put into them to maintain them to a certain standard, they’re best just to go to scrap sadly!

There was a group about a year or so again seemed to be taking charge however that went quiet pretty quickly.

One of the carmine and cream 314s (202 or 205) is sitting pan up ahead of a 320 at Shields. 214 is sitting somewhere further behind.

EDIT - it actually looks like the 314 is coupled to the 320. I wonder if it has been used for shunting duties?

That’ll be 314214. Looks like it’s going on it’s last journey and if I am correct in saying, it’ll be heading to the JR Adam & Son scrapyard in Govan (where the two driving carriages from 203 went)

That saddens me that’s the route I work on!! I’ve not seen any come through. Is there any due soon?..

I’m sure the rest of the 314s are now beings scrapped locally to save on the long journey to Newport. Plus Sims are now in the process of scrapping the ex-Northern 142s.

Is anyone able to confirm if 314215 has since been moved from Glasgow Works to the scrapyard? Also I'm reading that 204 has now left Eastleigh Works but is not confirmed if that is the case or not

Looks like either 314202 or 314205 has now left Shields for the last time. Pic has emerged of an SPT one on a low loader.

I think overall capacity on the North Clyde and possibly Argyle lines is set to be reduced as a result of 318s/320s being cascaded to replace the remaining 314s next month.

I think you may be right - noticed a few more 334's on Airdrie-Balloch services recently, perhaps that has been done to cascade a few more 320's and 318's to the Cathcart Circle. Also noticed a lot of 320's operating Gourock and Wemyss Bay although I find it bizarre that 380's are on Neilston and 320's are on Inverclyde, should be the other way around IMO (not a fan of 380's and don't think they work for local commuter services).

The 380s are on Neilston to provide the higher capacity of a four car service. They also seem to keep time better than the 314s did.

The 314s were much better than the 318s and 320s. The lower gearing probably helps. That said, the 314s never struggled on the faster Gourock trains. They got to 75 very quickly.

Earlier this morning there was one car of a Carmine and cream unit by itself at Shields awaiting removal.

Allelys Heavy Haulage have uploaded a pic on Fb showing an SPT 314 driving carriage on a low loader at Shields which will be going by road to the scrappy tomorrow. Couldn’t identify the number but it could possibly that of 202

The number on that picture is a bit difficult to read, but, it could be part of 205?
