LNER timetable has been published. Mostly a hourly London to Edinburgh and a Doncaster to Leeds Shuttle. Timetabled at 8 hours and 37 mins from London to Edinburgh.

Has this been published online? I've looked and have not been able to find it.

I have a gut feeling the orange weather warning will be extended tomorrow by the Met Office, to cover a much larger area, as well as higher predicted gusts.
The UK-wide Yellow warnings' impact matrix is currently "a low likelihood and a medium impact" - if the likelihood does increase it will fall into the amber category, so yes the warning severity could easily be extended.

Is the rain likely to cause problems as well? I've looked at the weather forecast for my town (Horsham) and it is basically saying 24 hours of continuous rain through most of Sunday and early Monday, mostly heavy. Any chance of disruption due to landslips?

I can understand the need for a speed restriction on the OHL parts of the TL network as OHL can come down in strong winds but why is a restriction needed on the 3rd rail parts of the TL network?

Trees, Trampolines, Sheds, Marquees, Roofs from buildings, all in recent years been hit by trains, (in this region alone) slow 'em down a bit, may stand a better chance in stopping.
Anglia I think is 50MPH Blanket speed on Sunday

Orwell Bridge A14/A12 : Closed 0300 to 1800 Sunday

A quick look at Twitter shows how small minded many of the travelling public are to their local TOC. Blaming them as if they are the only ones doing it rather than looking at the bigger picture across most of the UK and that Network Rail control & impose these speeds on the network. More importantly than that why can they not see the common sense in it preventing train damage or potential injury?

Aside from protecting assets and customer safety, a big consideration for TOCS is making sure everything is in place for the Monday peak. Spare buses are plentiful on Sunday as are bus drivers looking for overtime. Monday morning is another matter.

I wonder what comment they would make if vehicle insurance companies announced that cover would be suspended for anyone who drives into debris on the road or parks in a ditch on Sunday.

One would hope that Car drivers, would see sense and drive at a slower speed ! but no doubt they won't and still crash into trees, and say it wasn't my fault !

I still remember the response from some social media users when Greater Anglia announced on the Sunday afternoon that no trains will run on the Monday morning of the St Jude storm of 2013. It turned out to be a perfectly correct decision as it took a while to get the network cleared up ready to run trains again.

I’m currently travelling on LNER. They are announcing that all trains including those from other companies will have the 50mph limit imposed by NR.

Doesn't surprise me in the least. It is like the response to the article on the storm on Yahoo, comments like "who'd have thought a windy day in winter". Some people really are thick.

It is good that the rail service suspensions have been announced days in advance, giving at least some people a chance to change travel plans. It is a good example of taking mitigation against an upcoming high risk event and reducing vulnerability. Surely better than carrying on regardless and trying to patch things on the fly when it inevitably starts to go belly up.

I will be spending the afternoon reinforcing my greenhouse and collecting and storing loose objects from around my allotment that could potentially become airbourne projectiles.

Presumably buses that meet the disabled requirements (rather than coaches which might not). ?

As suggested by some yesterday Network Rail have imposed a blanket 50mph limit on the whole network tomorrow.

It's one of those things though isn't it? Whatever they do they will get slated by some people (probably the same people!). If they prepare and thin out the service they get blamed for over reacting and giving up to easily. If they tried to run a full service when it inevitably went tits up they'd get grief because how could they ignore all the warning signs they should have prepared!

It's one of those things annoyingly.

The XC temporary timetable shows that the 08:10 from Leeds to Birmingham New Street and the 12:30 Birmingham New Street to Leeds is formed of an HST. Thankfully I'll be at home!

Well we can’t possibly have people disrupted on their family day out, on what is now such an important shopping and leisure day...

Can’t win. If something happens then it’s “why did they allow the trains to run?” and if nothing happens that it’s all “an over reaction”.

Having said all that, it’s an awkward one as employers generally aren’t all that receptive to being told “I was told not to travel unless essential”. Of course only a small minority of journeys tomorrow would fall into that category, unlike a weekday.

Northern have cancelled all trains on the Cumbrian coast line between Barrow and Carlisle. The local News and Star website's headlines are that Northern cancel all trains, but I don't think it's that bad. Some local passengers are upset that their long planned weekends are ruined, and are wondering whether Northern will pay for an extra night's hotel or compensate them for a day's work if they can't get back until Monday.

May be quicker to go via coach than travel on ECML tomorrow. NCL to Leeds is 2hr 30 by coach, looks like NCL to YRK is 2hr with LNER and then you would still need to find yourself a train from YRK to Leeds.

I had a flight out of LCY tomorrow, just got an email that it’s cancelled and I’m rebooked from LHR. I’m not surprised, LCY has a very short runway and wouldn’t do very well out in that kind of wind.

It's a lovely sunny day here in the south east with barely a breath of wind, perhaps understandably some people are having difficulty comprehending how the weather is going to be so bad tomorrow that trains won't be able to operate. There are football matches scheduled for tomorrow which at the moment are still going ahead. Obviously we don't cope well with extreme weather in this country as we very rarely have any.
