They should probably brand a mixture of E300s and E400s for the 6. The 5 could be doing with branding.

As for the 60/60A I think refurbed B9TLs similar to those on the 61 would be good. The 60 has too mixed a fleet. It can get anything from brand spanking new to old tat. The B9TLs are getting on a bit however the oldest are about 13 this year. They look good refurbed but it won’t be too far away before they need a replacement on the 61. I always thought the 61 was busy and deserved new buses.
Ikr you can get from E400mmc to alx400 on that 60 and considering after the 2 to maxim Park was cancelled its now the longest first route it defo needs new refurbished buses

Its a lottery what appears on the 60 anytime I use it. Not the longest route though. 3, 6, 8, and 90 are all longer and the 201 in Lanarkshire is too

around 75 brand new vehicles coming this year. June/July we should start to see them arriving.

Only info I have. Nothing on what the order will include just yet.

Yahoo!

That seems like quite a decent order again. I wonder if it’ll be a mix of singles and deckers to replace anything up to and including some of the B7TLs and B7RLEs.

Rumours are the 5 6a 7/7a 9/9a

I heard rumours that the 5 was to receive second hand E400MMCs. It’s a busy route so new buses would be welcomed.

The 9/9A surely must be a big contender the B7RLEs on that route are so bad now. Although I haven’t noticed them rushing to debrand the current stock so I’m not so sure.

I think the 60/60A needs new buses as does ‘the one’ - the E300s are hammered on that route and look so run down now they need branded up. Wonder why they aren’t in a rush to repaint them.

The problem with the 1s is the amount of them so it would take a long time to work through repainting them although I agree with you. Would make sense for them to get refurbs or new buses as they're one of the most profitable routes around.

Maybe they do not have the budget for refurbs just now and only can repaint buses. They could be waiting for that to happen.

I think new buses on the 1 would go a long way for sure but perhaps they’ll paint them into the same colours as the 201 and paint them in due course. I just thought they’d be first given they are the oldest of the E300s having being introduced first.

On the subject of 'the one' does anyone have any idea what has happened to 67711? It has been missing for a while and was notable is it was the last one with 'up to every 6 minutes' branding whilst the rest have '5 minutes'

Is this not the bus that was in the accident on the expressway?

jeez is it that long? never seen the damage so dont know how badly it was damaged

It's entirely possible the vehicle has been and still is impounded, especially given the controversy surrounding the defect with the suspension that was discovered on it and many other Enviro300s.

Was a vehicle sent to Dumbarton to replace it? I recall a 62 plate E200 being sent from Lanarkshire but I thought that had been returned by now.

Surely if the issue was serious the E300s would have been pulled from the road? Mind you that would be hard duty given how many E300s are in the fleet.

The 31 always seems busy

Its busy at peaks . It went from 4 double deckers on weekdays to 1 decker , a 2nd decker has been put on since. So its 2 deckers in a row then 2 singles every half hour. Outisde peaks its dead, its mostly used from top of castlemilk to croftfoot to town. Route to EK has been under threat , evening and sunday service is SPT supported.

The e300 have always been a mess especially on the one I don’t get why the 1D and 1C gets double deckers being quieter than the rest as they get single decker

There's a low bridge at the bottom of Kilbowie Road so the 1/1A/1B/1E are single deck because of that and the 1C/1D can be extremely busy even off peak too so it's understandable as to why they're mostly double decker. The 1C is the closest bus to me and it can be just as busy off peak as any other service I've used in Glasgow

The 1C/1D would work really well with the E400XLB. I get it’s a short journey to use such big buses but the B9TLs and E300s are absolutely packed for the majority of the peaks and even beforehand. They would definitely earn their keep as it’s a busy busy route. Then they could be used on busy Caley routes throughout the weekend.

I do like the E300s they’ve grown on me but my general opinion on them is that everything about them is so light and flimsy. The E400MMCs aren’t half as flimsy as the E300s feel. I always think the smaller wheels and lack of double glazing make them rattle more and bounce more on a journey. Plus on routes like the 1, 2 and 3 which are really busy I think they’d benefit from buses like the B8RLEs or perhaps Mercs like McGills.

Yes but the cost of a Citaro is significantly larger than an E300. ADL stepping in with the lightweight E200MMC that is miles better then its predesscors and anything Wright or Optare can offer is ideal for an operator like First, who are always cost-cutting and the passenger
