Received an email from London Northwestern Railway today about compensation for season ticket holders.

It also mentioned that currently they are having a sale on tickets to london and birmingham

20% discount for Off-Peak tickets to Birmingham & London

Until 23rd February, Off-Peak tickets to Birmingham & London will be discounted by 20% when you buy at lnr.uk/sale.

how many people are aware of this?
Is this really a good way in bringing back passengers? What are the problems with an offer like this?

Any thoughts?

Got the email too. Misleading as it says until 23rd Feb but doesn't mention that the start date of the promotion is 15th Feb.

Guess they see slightly lower demand during school half term holidays so to counter that they are doing this offer.

IIRC London Midland used to do a cracking offer during school holidays of unlimited day travel on their network for £10

Seems railcards are allowed to be use in conjunction with the offer

Although point 2 is a bit wordy:
The rail sale enables a 20% online discount to be used for journeys to London (including Travelcards) for: all stations between Long Buckby and Watford Junction standard class Off-Peak Return, Off-Peak Single, Super Off-Peak Return, Super Off-Peak Single, Off-Peak Day Return, Off-Peak Day Single, Off-Peak Travelcard and Super Off-Peak Day Travelcard ‘any permitted’ tickets to London using the promotional code LNR20. It does not offer any discount on Anytime or Advance fares for these stations. All stations between Liverpool & Rugby including via Birmingham and Trent Valley standard class Super Off-Peak Single, Super Off-Peak Return, Off-Peak Single and Off-Peak Return ‘WMR/LNR only’ tickets to London using the promotional code LON20. It does not offer any discount on Anytime, or Advance fares for these stations

Seems to be of no use for anybody wanting to travel to Birmingham from London, so I might as well book via Chiltern when I head up to Birmingham later this month, at least there is no chance of getting a luxurious 350/2!

The problem is that last half-term the service was abominable due to lack of staff and other issues. Hopefully a better service will be provided next week.

To the casual user of the West Coast mainline there appears to be massive over capacity at weekends. Ive been on the Trent valley services 3 saturdays recently for football away days paying £5.95 to and from Crewe for an advance ticket with a railcard. None of the trains has been loaded anywhere near 25%
Some of the XX46s services off Euston Ive almost had a 4 car unit to myself.
Ive just booked Windermere to Euston on 24/2 for £14.20 changing to LNR at Crewe!
At this rate LNR or their successor will be paying people to travel once HS2 opens.

WMT20 - Local West Mids stations to Birmingham
LNR20 - Local West Coast stations to London
LON20 - Birmingham/Crewe/Liverpool to London WMR/LNR only

You should find what you're looking for using the last code.
