With my experience with GTR and others I know, it's been DMI first and if successful it's the MMI.

Congratulations on passing the assessments

The MMI is part of the assessments, so if you haven't done that yet then you haven't passed all the assessments. You may have passed the first stage, but there are still more assessments to do.

You're quite right that is part of the assessment, I always refer to the first parts as assessments and the MMI as a separate one. Don't know why I do that. Still it's an acheivement

When I went through the process with GTR two years ago it was DMI first.

I had a DMI with SWR two weeks ago and have an MMI tomorrow morning, so they do the DMI before the MMI.

I don’t really think there is too much you can revise for as such, best approach I think is to lightly review some MMI questions the day before, have plenty of rest with a good nights sleep and arrive early.

Saying that everyone is different, just do your best, good luck.

So with DMI’s in general, they tend to ask questions similar to MMI? Like tell me a time when....etc?

As well as the questions regarding what you know about the role and company.

Correct, however the MMI will involve the interviewer digging more deeply into the answers you provided before the interview.

Had mine 4 hours ago, luckily I passed even I though I thought i failed. I have a medical tomorrow at 10:00am. They must need to fill that course up ASAP. It starts on the 2nd if March for Waterloo.

Congratulations mate. Wouldn't it be good if all railway recruitment moved this quickly! It is promising for our SWR vacancies though that this has moved so quickly!

Thanks,

I did the initial assessments in April last year so it took 9 months from then until now.

Still have to pass the medical tomorrow, so one last hurdle.

Congratulations on passing the MMI Craig, how long did you have to wait to find out the result of your DMI? I had my DMI with SWR yesterday.

The TOC I applied with does DMI first then MMI. Supposedly the reason being is that if you pass the DMI then you have a high chance of passing MMI.

I’m sure it’ll all be fine. How did you find the MMI compared to the DMI?

More intense and formal, a response needs to be structured, you will be asked 8-10 questions on your answers to the initial 6 questions you answer.

Thanks for the heads up. Still waiting to hear back regarding the DMI. Congrats on passing the medical, just a start date needed now. I applied for Waterloo too, they seem to be hiring heavily this year.

Cheers, the thanks should be spent on the recruitment team in Southampton. They made it happen, I owe a lot to the two ladies Bev and Katie in head office. And Chloe in leake street.

Will post more when I receive the contract, can’t count my chickens until then.

Hi everyone,

I got my phone call from SWR on Friday to say I've passed the DMI and am now prepping for my MMI next week.

Just wondered if anyone who's recently passed the MMI with SWR could give me a heads up on the MMI questions they were asked, they seemed to ask some rather unusual ones in the DMI that I wasn't prepared for despite all my research on here!

Thanks :)

I haven’t done the MMI with SWR but the MMI I passed was based on the answers you provide to 6 examples beforehand. These were situations like tell me about a time when you have dealt with an emergency situation.

What did they ask you in the DMI? Why did you think they were unusual questions?

Hi jbeard, congrats on passing the DMI. What depot have you applied for? Did you have to wait long for the dmi outcome?

One of the questions I was asked was for example was "Can you tell us about a time it would have been easier to break company policy but you didn't and why?"

I hadn't come across this sort of question in the prep I did for the DMI so it caught me off guard a little - lucky I have had some rather interesting jobs that could help me answer on the spot.
