Over the January period there was some work taking place across the GILR, with equipment being stored at Great Coates No.1 Sidings and Network Rail engineers present at the sidings also. There had been what i think was a Volker Track machine through and some Freightliner 66s on Ballast (66620, 66614 and 66505 that I managed to catch). Though at the sidings there was no visible work that has been done, and there now stands a line block in place flashing away some month after the last train has passed through. I am just wondering if anyone knows what is taking place here as this is a very neglected line, very rarely used for freight diversions from Immingham terminal and has to be signalled from a box upon request. It would be nice to know if they are looking at upgrading this line for future use as freight through Grimsby is very rare.
