Hello all,

I’ve recently been invited to my first assessment centre for TPE for a position I applied for last July.

I am fully aware of what to expect from the day, however does anyone know how the day runs logistically? I’ve been told to expect to be there for just over eight hours of successful throughout each assessment but are there frequent breaks? Would it be wise to bring food/water with you, or is this something that would usually be provided?

Thanks in advance!

There will be access to water and there will be a “lunch break” between the morning and afternoon sessions.

Unless it’s changed, when I did them the assessments were done in blocks with the Group Bourdon and trainability for rules, followed by a break, then the ticket selling and checking, then a break, then the role play. The afternoon was then the structured interviews which started after an hour for lunch which you could nip into town for.

How long the day lasts depends on how successful candidates are. After each set of assessments the assessor marked the tests and then unsuccessful candidates were called in for feedback and left. As it stood on mine, there were 2 successful that were through to the structured interviews, so were done for 3pm.

Thank you! That’s exactly what I needed to know.

Out of curiosity, roughly how many people were in attendance at the start of the day with only two proceeding to the MMI

I’ve just found out today that I passed the MMI and I’ve been put forward to the conductor manager interview

On my assessment day there were only 4 people, 1 of which was a no-show and the other two came from Cabin Crew and Bus Driver backgrounds but I was the only one of the three who made it past the first stages! To have even got this far on my first application I’m over the moon, especially as my MMI was very brutal, and being on my own with just the examiner felt like I was back in school detention

If anyone has any advice or what to expect to be asked I’d greatly appreciate it!

If you have previously passed some assessments eg. Group bourdon with OPC do you have to complete again?

Also does this count as one of your two attempts to complete assessments?

No you wouldn’t have to do tests you’ve sat and passed, only ones you haven’t sat (some TOC’s differ) or tets previously failed or not up to the standard required or if the ‘window’ for your results was too long

Resitting would be your second ‘life’

Do any current TPE conductors have a copy of their diagram/rota so I can see the types of working patterns an average week or month would be.

Thank you all for your advice, I’m pleased to say that today I was offered a condition position merely two hours after my final interview! I’m over the moon and it’s thanks to the information provided by many member of this forum!
