I'm not aware that 195s have ever regularly worked CLC stoppers, but there has been evidence that they've done an occasional journey when something has gone wrong.
The semi-fast Liverpool to Manchester Airport via CLC semi-fast service makes additional calls at peak time, and one return journey even terminates at Oxford Road, but it's still the semi-fast, the stoppers are additional.
There are two diagrams for 195s on the CLC Lime Street stoppers next week.

Two car 195 019 which I has as in store has just passed through Sowerby Bridge in service.
Perhaps the 10 or so stored are being put into service.

195005 is also out on Calder Valley today, first time I've seen this and going by how clean it is can't have been out long!

It's only a serious safety issue if a door closes when it shouldn't (trapping someone) or opens when it shouldn't. If it doesn't close when it should do or doesn't open when it should do then it is an issue but not a dangerous one - more an inconvenience risk causing delays or potentially overcarried passengers (and all the indirect risks that may or may not entail).

The door issues with he 195s had me thinking about the Cravens ADG railcars that were in service in Perth, Australia between 1954 and 1992. They regularly ran with the doors open and apparently no one ever fell from them. How times change, it would be a definite "NO NO" today! This video at 6:55 illustrates the point:
Off topic, at 32:58 you can see a Leyland National bus in service in Perth (which the Class 140, 141s and 142s bodywork were based on).

I've lost track but a number were stored at Edge Hill.
507021s monthly updated blog has most of the 2 cars in store.
I'm sure my list is out of date particularly with more dgms from Monday but I have:-
195 006 ( Hudds trainer?), 014, 016, 017, 018, 020, 021, 022 023, 025 stored with 3 cars 125, 126 (Worksop trainers), 130.
Awating delivery.ARE 131 132, 133
I believe some of the 3 car 331s are stored or awaited too.

195014 was also in service yesterday which I think is a recent addition, however 195125 has been in service a few weeks now

195/0 or 195/1?

I'm not sure sorry.

We'll soon find out. I'm fully in sympathy with Bletchleyite on the point that the 195s would be far more suited to stop-start local services than long-distance, but my great worry is that in putting 195s on Oxford Road stoppers Northern will insist on making a mess of things. It seems to see the introduction of 195s as an opportunity to short-form journeys which weren't necessarily inadequately-formed previously.

We'll probably have no more of an idea by the end of the week whether they're booked two or three car sets - unless by "two diagrams" we're in for a treat and they both run coupled...

I sort of concur with both and to be honest I really don't know where the 2-coach 195s fit in in the wider scheme of things. Northern were gradually moving towards 3/4 car operation on the vast majority of routes with the Pacers, 150s, 156s and 158s. As a standalone 2-car 195 unit they're hopeless on practically all peak morning or evening services. Probably not surprising there has been some talk from the Northern hierarchy that they'll need to order more trains or additional carriage for some 195/0s - although that'll be something for the DfT to consider and dependent on if passengers numbers grow.

Whilst I realise that the DfT had more of a say in what was ordered than did Northern, it was not very forward looking ordering so many 2 coach trains. It is just not allowing for any future growth in passenger numbers and on many services is not adequate. I was on the 1009 from Leeds to Nottingham yesterday morning and the train was just about full for the whole journey. Passengers boarding at Langley Mill and Ilkeston had to stand to Nottingham. This was on the morning of Storm Dennis when people had been advised not to travel. 2 carriage trains are not the future for a route linking the major cities of Leeds, Sheffield and Nottingham. What a missed opportunity to provide extra capacity for growth.

There is at least two booked diagrams in particular on a Saturday with the 0749 mco to liverpool Lime st stopper one off them. Saturday sees them for sure.

195016 and 195126 were in service today which I haven't seen reported as being out yet. Despite the additional units out there's been a further reduction in carriages on the Calder Valley

195017 is on a Wigan - Leeds diagram today, currently the 0856 from Wallgate, for anyone who's interested.

Should be booked for a 158. I guess we'll see more of substitutions like this happening from now on.
Yeah, to be honest the 3-car 158 it is usually is overkill for the 0856. But I suspect that might not be the case on the service from Leeds which forms it.

On a positive note, the ride quality of this 195 on the Atherton line is outstanding... which I wasn't expecting.

Thanks seems that the stored units are at last entering service. My out of date list still has 6 stored plus 3 to deliver.

Couldn't agree more. As a regular Langley Mill/Ilkeston to Nottingham traveller, I was looking forward to the 195s assuming they would provide more capacity.

The job is STPd this week so maybe a 195 IS booked on it short term. I'm away from work so I can't find out. Llama will be able to answer it I'm sure
2I07 is still booked a 158, I'd have to check the STPs to see if that's affected anything. There were some Wigan-Leeds & vv trains yesterday that were were booked 195s that produced 158s, so who knows.

195127 was on a Airport-Liverpool diagram yesterday.

What is the current status for 195s '108, '113, '128 and '129 please?

Are any of the Wigan to Leeds via Brighouse services still booked for 150s or 156s now that more 195s have entered service?

I agree that they can ride very smoothly (I did Preston to Windermere on 195 112 and that was a 9/10 in terms of smoothness. However, I recently did York to Church Fenton on 195 124 and that was horrible. Both times I sat over the bogies and both routes were had high quality track so really it depends what unit you’re on.

PS does anyone know if 195 112 has been in service for a while and had time to ‘wear in’?
