On a different topic the next lot of new branding has been done. The new 73 buses and a few Geminis for the 2. Branded as Citylines 73 and Citylines 2. Still a bit odd that these routes are being done seperatly when the 6/7/17/42/43/44/45 are branded collectively. But I think the new branding looks nice if it wasn't for the mix of individual and group branding.

It’s just a plain colour, that’s a bit boring, and not very inventive, and possibly worse than the current coloured front liveries. You can have colour coded liveries and still have a bit of flair, look at Reading or Nottingham.

What’s with the strange stairs arrangement on the gas buses?

I think it is because the East red buses serve a main corridor and common sections of route. The 1 will probably be done yellow too, but buses should be branded 1 & 2.

The 71 was one of those routes that didn’t have the old branding. People on the 6/7 will be used to red gas busses by now, so the green on the 73 shouldn’t be an issue as it’s only Broad Quay they went anywhere near the 6 & 7. The only thing which could logically be grouped with the 73 is the 70 and 71, but a UniBus brand may be introduced for them.

They don’t have the windows up the stairs, so where the windows are on the metrobuses, the panels are painted black.

Did you mean the 73? The 70/71 was one of the first examples of the now old branding with the fuchsia (with the 72 even getting it for a short while).

I agree with you. The 6/7 and the 42-45 are a common group through Lawrence Hill and then out to Kingswood and Hanham so do have an affinity. Only the 17 might be considered a surprise but you can see the reasoning behind it. Given the recent timetable release, it would suggest that there will be a common livery for the 1/2/2A with some variation on fleetnames. As for people being confused about the once green 6/7 now being red, and the 73 going green.... there's a 2 month gap (and for some, it might be longer) between the green disappearing on one and appearing on another so it should be ok.

It's just a personal thing but I'm still a little underwhelmed by the new branding, especially the dark red. However, it's still a big improvement on the urban and urban 2, and I do quite like the finished example on the 2. Wonder if we might have some all bright red version for South Bristol? Just as long as they don't introduce an all over brown version to hark back to the brown overground branding that was on the 75/76 :D

It will be more alright if they got around to branding all services before they gwt the next branding idea!

I know what you mean. They've clearly been busy with the Aquae repaints and have done a fair number of the purple ones for the 3/4 but are now starting on the 24 and the 2.

I mean, they're gonna be painting quite a few into and out of Mendip colours and the Strawberry as well.

I'd quite like to see some Bath City repaints - seems to be consistently overlooked having managed 6 Eclipses and 2 Solos.

I think next week has to be sunday but with earlier and later journeys because it wouldnt be fair for front line staff who have to be in at like 7am
Well I'd argue the 75 doesn't need to run 24/7 at the moment, and some services are still too frequent on a Sunday so I think it will be based on a Sunday timetable but with some variations as you said.

According to the update on first bus website Keynsham won't have a daytime service on Saturday .... It says the 349 won't be running (Not sure if Abus will be running), 39/X39 will be Saturday timetable so no daytime services to Keynsham .....

Update:

The Bristol page says there will be a Saturday Timetable on the 39/X39, The Bath page says there will be a Sunday service.

They really do need to look at the early bus times carefully, if the aim is to provide a service for essential needs.

Our daughter needs to get to (essential care) work in Patchway, she can normally be there before 6am Mon-Fri (with a bit of a walk from home to get the 73) or just after 7am Mon-Sat (m1; much more convenient).

This coming Saturday, with Sunday service, the earliest she can get there is just after 8am (m1); no good for a 7.45 start.

It’s not just a Sunday timetable with early and late buses added by the looks of it.

edit: what I meant by this is the buses are running at different times to a normal Sunday, I’d assume the full timetable will be out tomorrow?!?

During my permitted daily exercise(!!) walking along Gloucester Road today all the buses that passed me in either direction I noticed had either just 0,1 or 2 people onboard. Which wasn't a surprise. Though expect they're still somewhat busier at peak morning and evening times.

Also noticed a Citylines East gas bus on a T1 and a 70/71 branded Streetdeck on a 75!

Due to the decrease in number of buses out, Marlborough Street are using I think 5 of the red gas busses as well as the South Glos Lynx gas buses to get as many out as possible. Though a odd B9 appears and 37003.

The 178 and 37 is mainly Streetlites with 66941 and sometimes a Dart.

heard suggestions that ABUS will run a shuttle around the estate to connect into the 39 i noticed en route to work yesterday the carmel dart also parked in abus's yard so maybe they will be using that on it

It's a hard one! Making sure everywhere has a service but not too much. Like Henbury to Cribbs is still 6 buses an hour or so

Bath Uni E400MMC 33950 currently in Bristol on a 376. Think it’s a bit lost!
That`s got to be the rarest working for a very long time.
Pity the lock down is on or I would drive to Street to sample it.
