No, it’s 44036 assigned to be 49111 (and is at Doncaster). 44040 is at Ely after short term use with ScotRail.I also have 44040 at Wabtec, maybe to become 49111

"Industry sources also indicate DfT has asked GWR to present proposals for the replacement of class 150 and 158 sets that operate in the West Of England and to develop a proposal for the conversion of additional 2+4 formation HSTs"
Blimey the Dft must be desperate to get hold of 150 and 158's for use elsewhere, I mean these short HST's must be expensive to operate compared to a pair of 158's added to which the conversion has proved to be time consuming and not exactly cheap. Wouldn't even the 769 concoctions be a cheaper option of maybe even new.
