This is definitely one of the best of these sorts of programmes - I think it's that it adds in a bit of railway and social history that gives the whole thing a bit more depth.

Agreed. Probably not enough for some, but at least they do give it a go. Good advert for the tours when they eventually restart.

I remember one series (may have been Branchline Britain or some such?), where they used to morph between historical view and current view, which I thought very effective. A bit like the Then and Now books, but done dynamically. I wish more programs would do that kind of thing. Probably takes a lot of time and research, however, meaning it will be quite expensive to do.

Yes, the Past & Present series of books are one of my favourites.

In tonight's show did the programme makers try to pass off as present 1980s footage of carriage cleaners working on an Intercity terminator hauled by an 86?

It definitely was archive footage of the cleaners back in the 80s with commentary! I'm not sure whether they were trying to pass it off as the present though it did look like it. Would love to know what old programme that archive footage came from.

Great show, glad it got a 2nd series and is airing at a time where we can't be at GLC in real life.

Loved that they included the scenes of staff participating in Pride in tonight's episode. Loved the enthusiasm of the young train enthusiast - reminded me of myself when I was that age.

In this weeks episode it was mentioned that the station employees cover eight different companies. Virgin (now Avanti), LNER, Scotrail, TPE, Network Rail, Mitie, presumably the other two would be BTP and the Grand Central Hotel? And why was a hotel employee allowed to enter the painting competition? Rules of most competitions say that employees of any organisation associated with it may not enter.

Not sure - a bit odd in the context of the 156 reliability that the bloke with 50 years service was going on about!
The footage of the 37 towing the 156 car was a home video taken by the engineer with 50 years service. Unfortunately it didn't mention the circumstances leading to this unusual combination

In the episode summary quoted by Beebman there's mention of the Blue Lagoon refurbishment which occurred a good while after the first series ended - so it won't be a repeat. There were also notces up in the station near the end of last year advising passengers of the filming for a new series.

Was filmed between July and October. I think epoisides are in that order too

I wonder if some people thought that was a 156 ha

This programme will need subtitles for anyone who doesn't live in the West or Scotland. The people who have been filmed so far have, mostly, spoken in strong Glasgow accents and dialects that are difficult to understand.

As for the Virgin woman referring to an amber, not impressed.

Subtitles are available on all programmes for those that need them. Being from the dull sounding south, I love the accents, but then I love the city itself so spend time there whenever I can. As for the reference to amber, the viewing majority of the general public would not give it a second thought.

Sorry but I think that comment is nonsense.

But it is worrying that such terminology (i.e. "amber" instead of "yellow") was being used in discussion about a safety critical procedure (train dispatch)

There have been a number of incidents with landslides. Wonder if it was footage of the recovery of one of those?

On 22/1/18 156458 was derailed by a landslide at Loch Eilt on the West Highland line. It was later removed 37516.
This seems a good candidate.

Watched the first episides on iPlayer after @Mag_seven mentioned the series to me. Enjoyed it so far

I had forgotten, but I do vaguely recall seeing some signs on my visit to Glasgow in September. One of the staff members seems familar too (the station supervisor) so I may have seen him around whilst there. Paul (I think is his name) did the tour that myself and a few forummers went on a few years ago

I'm a Yorkshireman and I'm having no issues in understanding any of those featured, strong accent or not. I must say, I hadn't noticed the mention of amber (was that by the trainee dispatcher?)

The footage looked significantly older than 2 years old, I must say!

Just got round to watching the final episode tonight. I was at the Belgium game on the Monday so had a simple journey by the looks of things. :)
Overall it was an enjoyable series to watch again

For those who haven't previously seen the first series, episode two of "Inside Central Station" (first broadcast on BBC Scotland) is being re-broadcast on BBC2 this Saturday 20th June 2020 at 7.00 p.m.

This particular episode features the (2018?) Scottish Cup Final (with supporters attempting to smuggle alcohol onto "dry" trains), havoc on the tracks in the summer heat and a sniffer dog discovering a suspicious package.

There's also another behind the scenes look underneath the station with tour guide Paul (Lyons).
