I guess the only question based on the info that @PHILIPE linked to is how many they’ll normally use, but it’s clear that the legalities have been dealt with.

Have TfW been granted derogations to carry on using their Pacers beyond 31st July? It's pretty obvious TfW have no choice but to extend the life of their Pacers as well.
Btw this title of this thread is a bit misleading, as with GWR and TfW, Pacers haven't gone anywhere yet.
Tbh I can see Pacers having to be kept going for the forseeable future and well into 2021, esp due to the need to increase capacity due to social distancing.
The ones that have been sent for scrap already should've been kept as parts donors.

You've got that "Baby come back" song in my head, only I'm singing "Pacer come back!"

Is the route its taking the quickets route from Heaton-Newton Heath? Is there a reason why its not being sent the direct route via York and Leeds?

I believe that the Morecambe branch services, alongside the Cumbrian coast services are worked by Heaton based units, however, Heaton no longer has any Pacers and the returning Pacers will be based out of Newton Heath.

That’ll explain why the shuttle was a 156/150 most of the time early this year.

I don't think that's been the case since May 2018. The Morecambe shuttle starts and ends its day at Blackpool and is in a cycle with Ormskirk/Colne/Blackpool South diagrams. So Newton Heath units. Cumbria is still Heaton units as far as I know.

That’ll explain why the shuttle was a 156/150 most of the time early this year.

Never a 150. Barrow crew don't sign them.

But Wigan do sign 150s, so they can go on selected diagrams. Without wanting to stray off topic a 153 went to Blackpool South this morning even though Blackpool don't sign 153s (It was a Blackburn diagram)

The Morecambe shuttle has been a single unit diagram since May 2018. So there hasn't been a 150 this year. There hasn't been a 150 on a west-side Morecambe diagram since VHF came in and chopped the Liverpool-Morecambes.

The few services that come across from Leeds/Skipton can be 150s, and one of those gets a Wigan crew for the Lancaster-Morecambe legs, but the west-side shuttle, no.

Looks like the Foxfield Railway have acquired 142055 for preservation! Second of the Merseyside sets to be preserved as well

So they’ve picked the worst type of the worst Pacer class. Good effort indeed.

Looks like there’s a combined Pacer preservation/scrap move from Gascoigne Wood tomorrow, firstly going from GW to Butterley MRC (presumably dropping off another 142 for preservation) then continuing from there to Sims Metals @ Newport Docks.

Here are the moves
GW to Butterley - https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/K02165/2020-06-17/detailed

Butterley to Newport Docks - https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/K02166/2020-06-17/detailed
Which pacer has been saved to go to butterley
And what the pacers numbers going to newport
