Whilst looking for some information seems another railway needs some help - https://eastkentrailway.co.uk/ - first page makes for sad reading. Have only been once but was well worth the visit - I know some people deride small establishments with limited stock

Donated. I haven't visited them yet, but they have some very important rolling stock that isn't represented anywhere else in preservation. The Southern Electric scene is pretty much ignored everywhere else.

I don't think it's unique to the Southern electric scene - for practical reasons electric stock isn't favoured on heritage lines.

Electric stock is scattered all over the place usually deteriorating - one of the oddest is the Northampton Ironstone Trust at Hunsbury Hill which has, from memory, a 3EPB set as well as one of the very rare 4DD cars out in the open.

It's a difficult one, because electric stock is of very little practical use to a heritage railway. The 4DD vehicles are hugely important but both survivors are on the verge of crumbling to dust. :(

There is a 4DD preservation group trying to raise funds to preserve it. So many projects so little money
