The line between Martins Heron and Bracknell stations runs through a cutting; the same applies to the line between Sunningdale and Ascot stations.

Frimley is a station on the Ascot to Guildford Line. From Guildford, it is possible to travel on the North Downs Line to Dorking Deepdene station.

When normal timetables are operating, only a handful of trains are scheduled to start or terminate at Stockport (despite very many trains calling there).
Knutsford is one of the stations which sees trains whose origin/destination is Stockport. Another is Guide Bridge.

Guide Bridge station was opened by the Sheffield, Ashton-under-Lyne and Manchester Railway as Ashton and Hooley Hill on 11 November 1841. Ashburys station was opened by the same company in 1855.
