I remember hearing recently that a Scottish Youth Railcard entitles the owner to 50% off a 16-25 railcard. Can anyone confirm this?

Probably, wish they would update the fares engine. I'm going to Carlisle soon and I'm going to have to book it in my nearest station (open until 10.30am weekdays) in order to get the discount.

The Scottish Youth Railcard can be used only for journeys wholly within Scotland. Last time I checked Carlisle was in England, so hence no discount would apply. I have just checked the relevant instructions in the fares manual and there are no easements or extensions mentioned either. Basically, it can be used only for journeys where the start and finish station are both in Scotland.
I can't find anything on the website. But often, "Scottish" rover tickets are valid to go to Carlisle and Berwick-upon-Tweed (but no further) even though they are both in England. So it may be worthwhile checking about validity with the Scottish Youth Railcard.
Kvwr5 is indeed correct in what he posted. There are no fares matching criteria, if you attempt to apply the discount. As far as I was aware, they were not valid for stations outwith Scotland at all.
Railcard is not valid for destination
Error code F123E
With NFM 06 CD, Edinburgh - Lockerbie gives a full range of fares using discount code SRY SCOTTISH YOUTH RCD, but Edinburgh - Carlisle returns
I wasnt sure as i have never been asked for a ticket to CAR with a SYC but i wasnt sure if you could use it CAR as the Club55 are valid. Why not split the journey @Lockerbie?
What stations that? Unless your going to book an advance ticket you can get your tickets on the train from the guard.
I'm not going to name the station (just for my own privacy), I was intending to book advance tickets there.
