Afternoon, is anybody else having issues with the application? I select yes on the 'Have you undergone driver assessments in the last 5 years' and two boxes appear with 'if yes were you successful', one a fill in box and the other a drop down but there's no options on the drop-down, and it won't let me progress without this being completed!! Any ideas???

Well I would contact Abellio and have them look at this but its hard to get through to them, they seem to take an eternity to reply to any enquiries.

Well I've submitted my appliccation the only way possible, by using the "no" option, which I assume won't have too much of a negative effect as they will be checking with the OPC for anybody who applies and will see for themselves.

Applied for Bletchley. I’m 1 hour 20 minutes away from depot so not sure if application will be accepted.

Do they accept relocation? Can’t seem to find anything regarding that

Its very unlikely - the recent Avanti & Chiltern Trainee Driver roles were very clearly about this too. If you presently live more than an hour away from any of the depots, you might as well forget it. I do believe the First TOCs consider relocation sometimes depending on the vacancy.

It is a great shame for many people who live outside the travelling zones but unfortunately, HRs are using this system now to whittle down the thousands of applications they will get.

I applied for Birmingham , but when asked nearest deposit I put Wolverhampton and under 30min as this is the truth. Not sure if I should have stated Birmingham new street and 30-60min as applying for Birmingham?

Don't think it will matter too much. You won't get a job at Wolverhampton

It says in the PDF FAQs that not to apply for multiple depots, and that they will filter your application for your nearest depot. So I read that as apply for any 1 depot and they'll sort it out. When the question for nearest depot was asked I answered the question they had asked.... I answered with my nearest depot. So I put Leamington.

I applied a couple of years ago for a trainee driver at WMT. I put my closest depot instead of one that's in the vacancies and didn't get past the sift. A year later, I put in an identical application but with the depot chosen being one that there are vacancies at and got through.

Now, I'm not saying it was the cause of me not getting through the first time. But personally, I think it's best to choose a depot where there are actually vacancies at.

Please feedback though what happens, I'm genuinely interested to see if it does have a bearing. I don't think it will...it was more likely I had some silly mistake that I missed in my first application.

I think it depends on multiple factors. I applied to Birmingham a few years ago but listed Wolverhampton as my closest depot in the questionnaire (even though Wolverhampton wasn’t recruiting) and still got through. I think it’s just one of those things that’s different for everyone, I wouldn’t worry about it too much

Yes i emailed WMT to double check. They stated as applied for Birmingham advertisement they will use postcode to check distances to the two sites . By sounds of email it shouldn't make a difference on nearest deposit stated.

Well I’ve thrown my name in the hat now. Here goes the long old process so long as my application is not thrown out. I’ve not got my file to hand but is the next process the SJT for those that are successful?

If I remember correctly from last time I applied, yes it will be the online SJT up next

Some people won't know what depots the company has and just apply to the closest vacancy. Its a bit of a silly question, Wolverhampton don't take trainees

To download a copy of your application you have to login to your profile. When you login you will see your submited application. There is then the option to download a pdf version of the application.
