Guidance for people with symptoms of a respiratory infection including COVID-19, or a positive test result for COVID-19.

Guidance "If you cannot keep a 2 metre distance, reduce the risk to yourself and others by maintaining a 1 metre distance where possible, and taking suitable precautions. " but still " Consider all other forms of transport before using public transport. "
This is, aside from the 1 metre, identical to the current guidance. I believe that this will, sadly, mean we haven't quite seen the end of 'essential only' pumping out from certain operators in a bid to make things easier for themselves. I think at this stage it's extremely disappointing that this guidance is still being maintained. I haven't seen one shred of solid evidence that suggests public transport acts as a 'super spreader' of the disease, and in fact restrictions are tighter there than anywhere else (masks
and distancing), and yet we're STILL being told not to use it.
Aren't we all supposed to go to the pub as soon as we can for the sake of the economy?
We are, but I think many people will be too scared to go out, and those who do aren't likely to enjoy it as much due to the 'measures' in place.
I know many people in my university course who are in the lowest risk group who are terrified of going to the pub, terrified of going anywhere near public transport to go to the pub, and terrified to even go shopping because of the way the virus has been portrayed in government and media messaging. I really don't think our government considered the long term economic difficulties associated with such fear driven messaging and the level of dread-mongering that they went for and I do think this may make the economy much, much more difficult to get up to previous levels, if we even can anymore.
In Germany they are running adverts for the Railways encouraging people to travel by train.......
We really need to be doing this as well. Sadly the mandation of masks, the heavy '**** off' messaging coming from some TOC's and the way it has been portrayed as a 'danger' will, I think, have killed of a significant % of revenue for the railways, perhaps permanently, and if not then for a very long time indeed.
