Looks like there's some sort of engineering work that has been going on for months. Looks like I'll need to take 3 replacement buses to Purley then the train. Surely there's a better way?

To expand: national rail enquiries shows 3 bus legs: Buxted - Crowborough - Oxted - Purley.

Occasionally buses are loaded into the timetable as separate legs even though they run through - I think it's possible that Crowborough - Purley could actually be a through bus. Presumably they're expecting very low passenger numbers south of Crowborough?

Are there really no replacement buses running to Haywards Heath?

The NRE Engineering page shows 2 legs only - you could tweet Southern/Govia?

Hi,
There are three possibly easier options:
1. Get a lift or walk down to Coopers Green. Get a number 29 bus to Lewes (longish walk from the bus to the station) and then a direct train to East Croydon.
2. Get a lift or walk down to Coopers Green. Get a number 29 bus to Tunbridge Wells (short walk from the bus to the station) and then trains to East Croydon.
3. As mentioned by telstarbox get a taxi to Haywards Heath.

The area's road network does not allow you to quickly follow the railway and bus going to/near all the stations from Crowborough to Purley would take ages.
Cheers,
Mr Toad

Depends how you define longish but 0.2 mile or about 4 mins. Get off opposite Lewes Court and walk down the hill to the station.
