Some spectators allowed into stadia from autumn

More to follow...
It’s all definitely going in a positive direction. Grassroots football looks to be fine from October as well.
It can’t come soon enough either - due to a really bad run of weather in winter/spring, the last live game I watched at a ground was on February 1st. Watching the EPL on tv isn’t the same.

It’s official....Leeds are promoted!

Although I’m not a Leeds supporter, I’m very happy with this news as they’re one of my local sides and we have some cracking Derbies to look forward to next season!

Huddersfield Town 2 - 1 West Bromwich Albion

Well, we've just about secured safety now, but I've seen us balls it up before!

My neighbours celebrated Emile Smith-Rowe's late winner louder than I did... not sure why! ;)

I’m so glad it came before Derby away, and it’s even sweeter when it’s courtesy of Huddersfield. Histon and Hereford are no more.

I do however, feel for West Brom right now- we’ve been there!

Congratulations. :)
It’s going to be interesting seeing how they do, would you say that they’re in a good position to stay in the top flight next year?

As you say, it will be interesting! Bielsa is a genius, but he could easily walk-away saying 'job done' tomorrow... ...so who knows?! If Bielsa is in charge we will give it a good go, but the main thing is that it should secure the club financially for a while.

I have never understood those people who ‘support’ a second team, or switch allegiance from one team to another. But today I am firmly a Brentford fan.

A great weekend gets better, Leeds are now champions after Brentford's amazing run comes to an end.

Great to do it before kicking a ball, especially with a tricky fixture at Derby County up next.

The Championship is such an interesting division though, with still so much at stake at both ends of the league.

The same thing happened to Liverpool a few days ago.

I'm a Bradford fan, but I've always had a big soft spot for Arsenal, which got bigger when I lived in North London and worked with a load of gooners. So I do get it.

Leeds winning promotion and Huddersfield staying up is terrible news. Meanwhile, we languish in League Two with an owner who can't be bothered. Our star signings this window are, er, Billy Clarke (third time) and Dylan Mottley-Henry. I hate my life.

Still, in one of the most one-sided games in a while, Arsenal are through to the FA Cup final. A complete smash and grab.

In the South West people often support their local non-Premiership team and a Premiership team (often the team of where an exiled parent comes from)

I know the feeling there. Our previous owner sold up last year after an illness, and took out all the money he'd invested. His replacement (also apparently a Town fan, but as the previous owner shows, if you're a businessman being a fan seems to mean something different) has just all of a sudden dismissed our management team after 10 months in charge. We're safe barring a 13-goal swing but the timing is bizarre to say the least. Possibly they'd been sniffing around other jobs (Bristol City is rumoured) but hopefully it'll all come out in the wash.

If it wasn't for Watford probably sacking Pearson we'd be a laughing stock, again.

Sacked for getting Leeds promoted. Very 'Town' that.

If you know the new owners don't like you, you'll sound out other opportunities. It makes sense. We lost Phil Parkinson when our new owner came in and, on balance, I'd rather have kept Parkinson's anti-football instead of our narcissistic Bosnian (now departed) and the German who doesn't care.

Ah, good old Phil "empty chair" Parkinson... no love lost for him in this part of West Yorkshire!

The football under the Cowleys wasn't amazing, but they did teach us how to win games again when we'd pretty much forgotten how. I'd have given them another year myself, but if there were issues of loyalty I can understand the club's decision. I don't think the chairman disliked them (at least initially), as he appointed them.

So Cardiff have just announced season ticket plans for next season and one interesting bit is that they are saying in the event that a game, or multiple games, have to be played behind closed doors or postponed due to COVID, then they will try to provide free access for season ticket holders for an online stream but no refunds etc.

The exact specifics are a bit complicated due to us being in Wales and so under different rules than England (which will likely mean fans will be allowed back sooner in England than Wales) and us looking likely to end up in the playoffs and the Premier League having different policies around letting fans see games (as you all know, all Premier League games are being televised but some on Pay TV, while in the football league, most clubs have given season ticket holders free access to their "iFollow" streaming service).

Suffice to say, a fair few people have taken exception to this.
Although I do wonder what other clubs have said or done (if anything)? I know some had already had tickets on sale for next season before all of this kicked off for example.

Any thoughts on this one?

Unusual for things to be so public!
He certainly seems to be an ideal fit in many ways, and if anyone can get anything out of the lazy overpaid prima-donnas signed a couple of summers back, someone who's worked with Bielsa is as good an option as any.

It's a gamble, and personally as I said I'd have given the Cowley brothers another season to build something before pulling the plug (despite the football under them being rather, well, rudimentary). I do wonder if there's been a falling out behind the scenes though.

Not really sure what to think of the last few days, in a few years we'll look back and the decision will either be a moment of absolute genius or utter insanity!

Not knowing the scores, and not caring all that much about them, what a pleasure it was to watch Quest's coverage yesterday of the last night of the Second Division season.

It was great to see the pure joy or misery on the players' faces the moment they scored (or conceded) without having to worry about whether VAR would deem a toenail offside or the ball had accidentally brushed somebody's shoulder.

It really brought home to me how much VAR is taking the soul away from football.

What exactly is the position with Wigan Athletic in regards to relegation. Are there still legal matters still outstanding?

They’ve appealed their 12 point deduction, although I’m not sure the grounds for the appeal as it’s a bit of a slam dunk to me

I note that for the second time that certain Liverpool FC "fans" chose to ignore appeals by the football club, the team manager, players. Joe Anderson and the police force not to attend any very large post-match gatherings of people, but to hold their celebrations at home, noting the risks inherent of Covid-19 spread.

Seems these individuals regard themselves as being above the football club they purport to support and have no thoughts of what could ensue of bringing Covid-19 into their own homes when they return home.

Leeds "fans" were out for the second time as well. The club also decided it would be a great idea to stage an impromtu open-top bus celebration as well only hours after urging fans to stay away. The club statement released afterwards to somehow justify it is nothing short of a nonsense.

It’s no different to the VE celebrations or BLM protests.

But, yes personally I don’t think it was sensible, however we are now well into the easing of lockdown. The police HQ is about 500m away and they didn’t see fit to intervene.
