Priv Tickets to Inverness By Sleeper

I am thinking of going up to inverness on the Caledonian sleeper. I realise this has to be booked in person at a station. But which ticket do I book as according to BR Fares there a number of different prices. Obviously I am looking at the the least expensive but how can I be sure that is the right ticket. It will be for myself and my wife. We both hold TfL issued PTAcs

Assuming the PTAC works the same as most Priv discounts, according to RSTL's "Where can I go" document, you either have the choice of:

1. 75% discount off the public fare (single only), inclusive of travel and room accommodation (Solo or Twin Accommodation), on presentation of a Rail Staff Leisure Card. Reduced fares are subject to availability and can be purchased in advance from a National Rail station.
2. Purchase a Privilege rate Any time or Off Peak ticket and pay the room supplement. There is no discount on the room supplement. Room supplements can be booked online at www.sleeper.scot

Option 1 is likely to be cheaper in most instances. To find out the price you would take the public price as shown on www.sleeper.scot and use that as the basis of the discounted fare.

Call up the Caledonian Sleeper Guest Service Centre and they will do this for you.

On the occasions I've done this I've merely been referred back to a booking office. In theory any booking office that can do seat reservations can also reserve the sleeper. AFAIAA you get 75% discount on whatever public rate price is available at the time of booking - subject to staff places being quota controlled.

When I called them they were able to confirm that priv berths were available but not able to sell me one, I had to go to ticket office.

Correct no discount on the "honeymoon suite" or whatever it's called.

Unless it's changed, Priv discount is available for both Club rooms and Classic rooms; it's not available for Caledonian Double. The discount is on the "Flexi" rather than "Fixed" tickets.

Whilst a discount is available on Club Rooms, it's only available to holders of First Class travel facilities.

I’ve had no problem booking via the telephone using TfL Ptac but this was back in ScotRail days, before Sleeper.scot took over.

Just say that you have a Priv. Don’t think it needs any more. I was offered the choice of a ToD reference to collect at a machine, or post.

The website will also sell berths far in advance (e.g late 2020) but when ringing I've been told that priv reservations are only available a few months in advance which is a bit frustrating (and as above, only available via a ticket office)
