As we know, most planned enhancements for the December 2020 Timetable have been deferred or cancelled.

This thread is to discuss news and plans as they're announced for what will form the permanent basis. This is expected to roll over many things from the May 2020 base timetable. Minor tweaks and changes are likely, there may also be some services eliminated.

To discuss timetables for engineering work at London King's Cross please see this thread https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/kings-cross-upgrade-closures-2020.206605/. Discussion of temporary timetables in effect as a result of Covid-19 is underway elsewhere in this forum, there are also a number of threads in the Speculative Ideas (https://www.railforums.co.uk/forums/speculative-ideas.172/) section discussing timetable changes.

Thank you.

Hourly service Manchester to Chester via Altrincham. College kids will be retired by the time this eventually happens!

Do you mean half-hourly? And I don't think this is on the cards for December?

Ach thanks for pointing out my mistake.

Hourly SUNDAY service Manchester to Chester via Altrincham.
Originally planned before I was born
Okay that's an exaggeration. December '16 if memory serves me right.
But half-hourly Monday to Saturday would be amazing too.

Anyone got any news on the York to Scarborough shuttle?

The Covid timetable is committed in the systems (such as seen on RTT) to 14th September, from memory. The York to Scarborough shuttle is still in the timetable for dates after that. That’s not to say it’ll happen of course, but I happened to be looking at the other day to see how long the, frankly, abysmal current service level is planned for!

Europe make their main changes in December, and more minor changes in June. Wonder whether European countries will defer things by half a year.

The 'temporary change' from a 2 hourly Chester to Manchester service to a 3 hourly Chester to Altrincham due to GMPTE no longer having any money to subside the Sunday service lasted around 20 years! Mid Cheshire Rail User's Group claim Sunday passenger numbers increased by 400% when the cutback was eventually reversed.

The additional weekday services are supposed to be Greenbank to Manchester only. There's been conflicting stories about whether the additional services would be stoppers, meaning the Chester services skip some stations or whether the Greenbank services would be limited stop. Regardless of that I've been told the requirement is for both services leaving Greenbank between 3:15 and 4:15 to do all stops to Altrincham so the schoolkids can get either train, regardless of where they are getting off.

Interesting, not what I'm hearing off a few of the TOCs.

I hope TPE revert back to the xx40 departure for Hull to Manchester. The present arrangement sees two trains to Leeds within 8 minutes each hour. Reverting to xx40 would give a better spread and a 30 minute service.

Normally takes a week or two for everything to appear, too much to send in one go. And as ever there are likely to be gaps due to failures and changes but it will settle down.

The latter date, certainly, is subject to change. A lot could happen between now and then!
Still down as the date, May 21 bid is a mere couple of weeks away, whether its worth the paper its written on is something else.

Any indications of December changes.
Anyone think that some will retain the current timetables until things settle down.

Network Rail are offering back to the TOCs on Friday 16 October, so it should be in downstream systems within a day or two of that.

Takes a couple of weeks to send everything downstream, a week at least for passenger. Offer back has already been made.
