Smethwick West closed with the winter 1995 timetable, September 1995, when the line from Smethwick Junction into Snow Hill opened. As you quite rightly say, something wasnt quite right with the closure procedure, and for the next 12 months one up and one down train, both Hereford services stopped within a few minutes of each other. Think the last down train to call was 150103, and the last up train to call going to New Street was definitely 150127.

If you are talking disused platforms, the fast lines island platform at both Kings Norton and Northfield are both still there although the entrances are bricked off and no trains stop there.

If those count then so does New Maldon, where the "disused" platforms even have train departure boards.

"The next train at platform 2 does not stop here...."

Last time I was at Rock Ferry, the disused platforms had trees growing in the trackbed but the signals were still switched on, fortunately showing red.

Mostly Glasgow-ish. Mostly.

There've been a couple of New Malden threads on here and the common theme seems to be the platforms could still be used in specific circumstances. From the views I've had of them recently it'd be like alighting in a rainforest.

Both platforms still present at Pill, although only one track passing through. Think the stairs are still there in the undergrowth too. Ashton Gate station had both platforms, not sure if these have been affected by the new busway built over the docks line next to it. On the closed bit, Portbury station is still intact although the large station building is now a house.

I assume they'd cut the grass first, although I appreciate that wouldn't be possible for an emergency evacuation.

Gatehead and Drybridge on the Kilmarnock to Barassie line both still have platforms.
The Gatehead platforms are heavily overgrown but still exist.

Ashton Gate station was (is) on the other side of the road complex on the Clifton Bridge side and not near the metrobus crossing bridge.

I'm sure Coundon Road on the Coventry to Nuneaton line still has the derelict platforms standing

Island platform at Taunton was closed I believe some years ago, but just looked at Open Train times and it appears to have trains stopping at it. How astonishing.

But on a video I have shows it out of use in 1993.

My 2009 copy of TrackAtlas of Mainland Britain published by TrackMaps shows all platforms in use.

Grange Court Junction still has a loading dock platform along with a building still there, the other 4 platforms were probably removed in the 1960s.

Ones off the top of my head are Sampford Peverell down platform, it can be seen in parts behind Tiverton Parkways down platform. Up (and I think also down) platforms at Little Somerford. Up platform at Tamerton Foliot. We stopped here once for a nose around ,confused the hell out of the owner of the station house. The platforms too overgrown to stop there now (and you'd be in trouble).

There must be hundreds.

Wantage Road, Shrivenham and Corsham all have some platform remaining, Wantage being the best example.
I recall there being ideas (plans?) to reopen Wantage Road (for Grove?)- is that even a possibility? Maybe the Eastern Economic Heartland will assess the viability of trains there from Wymondham, Watford, Welwyn or Ware (other threads relate :( (sorry -they're all still open ;)).

Rotherham Masbrough

Attercliffe

Are there any others in Yorkshire ?
All 3 were mentioned quite early in this thread, when first started in early 2019. I’m fairly sure others in Yorkshire will have come up already...
