Could it be the New MMC400 are off to operate 57 and 59? while the older 10plate will get used for Schools, 7a/43/44 in Fife instead of the new stock? Where is the spare stock from no73 going to end up, I bet its Fife.

4 N230UDs have left Arbroath. So the spare stock will presumably be used on the 39 in their place.

Can Perth really cope with losing two E300s, and ALX400 and an E400? Anything going the other way to back fill them?

PVR drop of 3 on the 7/7A (now every 15 mins vice 10, and bi-di loops around Scone). Not sure where the other loss is, I suspect it will become clear when schools go back next week

Seems rather telling that consultation changes have already happened in most of the areas. Do we know a rough est on how many buses are being withdrawn? Hopefully that new driverless bus project can all most of the spare drivers to get new roles,

I think it'll be a drop of around 16 vehicles from the end of September

Fife
-1 on the 6
-1 on the 4/8/8A
-2 on the 19
-2 on the 23/92
-3 on the 747
-1 on the X24/6

Perth/Strathtay
-3 on the 7/7A/7B
-3 on the 73

Isn't it 2 on the 6/a and lost of 3 on the no19s? Mind you 6/6a will have to get a replacement. If I'm honest there does seem to be hints at other cuts coming on top of the service highlighted.

The consultation page implies it's only the 6 being withdrawn (the Crombie section; no mention of the Oakley 6A). PVR on the 19 w/c 29 June was 13, pre-pandemic (and from today) is 15.

I agree further cuts/changes will probably be made in good time

If the Government aren’t able to commit to continuing some financial support, when the current agreement ends at the end of next week, then there will be many, many more cuts to come ...all over the country!

Personally I don't think the financial support should stop until the requirement for reduced capacity on buses is dropped. Commercial operators can't afford to go round turning passengers away because their buses are (half) full, that'll just drive even more custom away long-term.

Well that is a saving grace for the people of Saline. Cheers for the details over the no19.

Thank goodness there is an election within 8 months, Any goverment that turned it's back would get right kicking surly?

Fully agree with this. If the government cut funding beforehand then they'll probably end up needing to fork out anyway to help provide services in the absolute ton of areas that would cut off across the country if major cuts occurred from all operators

Local authorities are responsible for that, not the Government. The Government only allocate the funding to LAs, AFAIK.

On that subject, the 37/46/49 (Arbroath town service) tender has been dropped by Angus Council due to financial constraints.

Got a feeling financial constraints might see the end of more tenders by councils because I can't imagine any council having enough money right now

If i'm not mistaken the Scottish gov have little to no say over how much funding there is, only where it's allocated?

You can always find money, when you want to.

To be fair how many people would be effect if a good whack of tenders disappeared? We all know of certain routes that we think why is that even running?

READERS’ LETTERS: Stagecoach service cut would have devastating impact on Fife communities
Sir, – I was alarmed to find via Facebook that Stagecoach is stopping the route from Stirling to St Andrews and back, thereby depriving Fife of a major route of public transport.

Stagecoach stated they are holding a public consultation about the route, which shuts on August 7.

A community councillor from Auchtermuchty emailed Stagecoach about this devastating action and received the following answer: “I’m afraid we have made the decision to use the resources we have elsewhere and we are unable to operate Service 23.

“This decision was taken as we feel that the resources (buses, drivers, etc) are better placed elsewhere in our network to support areas of greater demand.

“This was agreed upon with the relevant local councils.”

What is the point in holding a public consultation when the decision is already taken?

Stagecoach does not seem to care about the impact this decision will have on the livelihoods of people here in Fife, depriving whole communities of access to public transport.

It is something that someone picked up from Facebook, otherwise it would have gone silent and no one would have been able to protest.

If Stagecoach take away the 23 service from Stirling to St Andrews it will have a devastating impact for young and old in the whole region.

I know people from Auchtermuchty, Strathmiglo and Gateside who are dependent on this route to get to work, school or university.

There are people that do not have a car and are reliant on this bus route as their only means of transport.

Maaike Cook.

Cash Feus,

Strathmiglo.

Yeah that I agree with. I think the whole system of tendered services is fairly broken and I'm sure even any of us could find the solution if we spent enough time on it. The money spent right now could definitely be used more effectively

Yet here is the problem with that complaint, the no23 is dead and not very busy. Worse still Fife council operate 2 service each hourly on top of the No23. I bet there were happy with these services being introduce, not caring it would have an impact on passengers numbers on the 23.

Strathmiglo still has a bus every hour to St andrews, Mucty has 2 buses an hour to St Andrews, No23 is Not and has never been well timed for anyone to use to get to their work before 9am in Stirling. The no23 doesn't make any sense nowadays, Cupar to St Andrews has 4 buses an hour. Maybe Rennies could operate 2 hourly service from Kinross to Stirling while N066 could extend from Burnside to kinross?

Add 19368 and 27551 to arbroath as they appear to be in service today according to the tracker this morning (19368 on the 27 0715 arbroath to forfar and 27551 doing a 27 arbroath town run)
