Just wanted to check for any recent updates - how many 710 diagrams are now on the West Anglia STP Monday-Friday schedule at the moment? And any news or developments regarding driver training?

6 pairs rotate 4 circuits weekdays, 3 on weekends.

Those being

121/108
120/119
103/105
117/107
124/102
123/129

11 circuits, so 22 as all are required to be 8 car to aid social distacing.
Okay, so four pairs in use with two spare I take it. Around a third of the diagrams. What's current delivery and acceptance timescale for the remainder? Are all drivers trained now too?

There isn’t a timescale. Training stopped at the halfway mark before this all kicked off which is where it remains. Hence only 4 circuits. Until anything significantly changes on guidelines from the government on workplace interaction, there wont be any real major developments for now. Could be tomorrow could be next year. Who knows.

109/128 having another go at entering service today, managed a round trip so more successful than previous. Driver trainers look to be trundling around as well unless something is out on test.

50/50 split 315 and 710 reached on diagrams this week, with the latter working the majority of services as one 315 diagram is AM peak only.

710101 was taken from Old Dalby to Willesden yesterday.

Additionally, does anyone know what the unit no's are running up to for each subclass? I know the 4-car number ranges ran thus: 710256-273, and 710101-131, but there's a part of me that thinks only 30 710/1s are being ordered in the end, as 48 units were ordered and 101-131 + 256-273 totals 49. Perhaps 710131 was an anomaly?

I think you’re right, the 30/31 anomaly is because there was originally planned to be a 25kV unit for Romford-Upminster, and it became an extra dual voltage unit during build, (about the time the extra 9 units were ordered). TfL said at the time the Romford unit was to be transferred to the DC Lines, and would be replaced by a retained 315.

I suspect numbers, eg as posted on Wiki, are still playing catch up, they were wrong early last year as discussed in this thread back then.

710/1s go up to 710130. There isn't a 710131.

Roughly what % of the diagrams on LO's Lea Valley services are now 710s?

Based on the post just above you would assume that the ratio is 60/40 split with the 60 being 710s. As a daily user of this line this would be a fair assessment

Thanks. I wasn't sure if 'in use' meant 'in use' all day or whether they were just being given the run-around periodically. That's awesome though.

They arent all in service at once. 7 unit diagrams, 1 training train and 2 spares. The 10 units indeed rotate.

There's a typo on the last line which should be 111/125.

Also, 112/101 were running around out of service, and 119/120 were parked in Orient Way sidings.

Oh. So will they keep 1 or 2 315s to run the service or will 710s or maybe even 378s take over at some point?
All they ever announced was that one 315 would be retained, so that the one 4 car 710 could be moved to the DC lines. No explanation was offered about how it would be maintained, or any breakdowns covered.

TfL have said that route will remain 315 operated, so I wouldn’t expect them to...

Their planned enhancement to the East London Line (from what I've read) requires 7 378s. They've ordered 6 710s for the Watford DC route, so the 7th 710 for Romford - Upminster will instead go on Watford DC and send the 7th 378 to ELL.

Aspiration is to introduce 2tph extra to Crystal Palace and 2tph extra to Clapham Junction. How they're planning to diagram the one platform at Clapham for 6tph I'm not entirely sure - I wouldn't be surprised if the additional 2 end up in the bay at Battersea Park.

I’d look the other side of Clapham Junction...

(If they ever happen).

The Original TfL explanation is somewhat different, eg as in post #758 of this thread. It refers to a total of 8 extra units for ELL/SLL. I‘d just go with the last official TfL explanation, until it’s ever re-issued...

It may be 7 + 1 spare which is where I've got my wires crossed.

You'd think that would be even more unworkable than using Battersea Park bay. Imagine missing the train on Plat 1 and having to run all the way to 17 to catch the next one
