Basically as the title says. What are the smallest towns by population with 2 or 3 or more stations? My guess is Winnersh, population of 9,400 and 2 stations, both with trains to London and Reading every 30 minutes. Are there towns smaller than that with multiple stations?

Tyndrum perhaps? Two stations, population 167 according to google (although not exactly a town).

On the West Highland line, after it diverges at Crianlarich. I think the gradients are quite steep, hence the names Upper Tyndrum and Tyndrum Lower.

Yup, that's the smallest town/village with multiple stations, by a very long way.

Dorking might be one of the smallest with three stations, at 11,185.

West Highland line (and branch line to Oban) passes through some fairly remote country.

Tyndrum is as big a community as most up there.

Havant has 3 in very close proximity, if you include Bedhampton and Warblington, which seems a tad excessive

Burscough has two, but I'm not sure of the population. Wasn't there a similar thread about this topic a while ago?

Arthog
Eight including two on the Cambrian Coast Line
Strangely, there is no station called 'Arthog', the station of that name was on the closed line towards Dolgellau
That must be the most stations per inhabitant, maybe?

Maybe bending the OP's rules here, and not sure of population, but the WV8 postcode has two stations with calls just two minutes apart. Codsall & Bilbrook situated northwest of Wolverhampton. Both classed as villages.

Pontefract has three!

... Baghill, perhaps the neatest one with the longest platforms is the one with an almost non-existant service. Wiki "In the Strategic Rail Authority's 2002/3 financial year, only 15 people bought tickets for journeys from Pontefract Baghill station, and 21 bought tickets for journeys ending there,[3] making it the sixth least busy station in the United Kingdom at that time". Its busier now, but still a ghost location.

Acton has more stations than inhabitants.

OK, not quite - but a lot of stations.

Completely bending the rules, but the City of London?

The population is roughly 10000 and it has 12 tube stations and 6 mainline stations.

The two stations were originally on separate railways - the Lower station was on the Caledonian Railway's Callender & Oban line. The later West Highland line of the North British Railway had a lot of height to gain between Crianlarich and County Match Summit, and in any case had to use the other side of Glen Fillan to get there, so even if yhe Calley had been willing to cooperate, the NBR wouldn't have been able to share.

Settle; Settle and Giggleswick; not as small a village as Tyndrum but mush be one of England's smallest to have two? Unless, of course, they are classified as two seperate villages?

Another place of the same scale would be Lympstone - though it may be debatable whether Lympstone Commando counts as serving the village.

Settle and Giggleswick are separate civil parishes (and ecclesiastical, though they share a vicar these days IIRC), though of course Giggleswick station was built to serve Settle.

Doesn't Giggleswick have a huge school/college - far bigger than the local catchment area would require? If I'm right it must be a private school, maybe boarding? Handy to have the two stations close by! Giggleswick and Settle are separated by the River Ribble so I suppose they are different places. However i note that on Openstreetmap, Settle College and Settle Area Swimming Pool are both on the Giggleswick side of the river. I rest my case, m'lud!

Llanrwst has 2 stations and has a population of just over 3000. think it might be the smallest place in Wales served by two stations

Aberdovey has two stations:
Penhelig Station at one end of the village and Aberdovey Station at the other end of the village!
