Arthog
Eight including two on the Cambrian Coast Line
Strangely, there is no station called 'Arthog', the station of that name was on the closed line towards Dolgellau
That must be the most stations per inhabitant, maybe?

Up to the OP but I don't think that qualifies as it sounds like you're referring to the local government area rather than the settlement itself.

For smallest town with 6 stations what about Coatbridge with a population of 43,000?

Neither of my suggestions are as small as some places already mentioned, but Thorne has 2 stations on separate lines, serving around 15,000 people if my memory serves me right.

Meanwhile, Kiveton Park has 2 stations on the same line, with a population of around 7,000.

Ardlui station is also in the postal town of Arrochar, another small place that also has Arrochar and Tarbet station!

Well if that worked you could have Grosmont, NR and NYMR. Population at the last census 318. Not a town, although that ship has sailed in this thread

Arrochar/Tarbet and Ardlui may be the same postal town BUT Ardlui is around 7 miles from Arrochar/Tarbet....so hardly very close.

Doesn't Giggleswick have a huge school/college - far bigger than the local catchment area would require? If I'm right it must be a private school, maybe boarding? Handy to have the two stations close by! Giggleswick and Settle are separated by the River Ribble so I suppose they are different places. However i note that on Openstreetmap, Settle College and Settle Area Swimming Pool are both on the Giggleswick side of the river. I rest my case, m'lud!
All points are correct (I daresay back in the day someone complained about the mis-namings!), but I don't think it makes the two communities one.
The two Settle institutions were built on (the most convenient) empty land between the two communities, and both serve a wide catchment going to the county border (in days gone by the school catchment was even wider, I am told, but Lancashire annexed some parts of the West Riding in 1974).
Giggleswick is a long established independent boarding school (whose alumni included OS Nock).
Settle is the post town for Giggleswick BTW, but post towns cover large areas.

I was indeed!

Porthmadog (NR/TfW)
Porthmadog Harbour (FR/WHR)
Porthmadog (WHHR)
And Tywyn has 3, with Pendre.

New Mills I think I was told was the smallest settlement with two staffed stations, Not sure if that is true though.

Really though since the Hazel Grove Chord opened New Mills council would probably wish they had a 3rd station on the Chinley to Hazel Grove line.

I doubt it -there's nothing that would serve a station there!
No stoppers use that chord, and New Mills is too small to really warrant being served by an express.

A very small number of stoppers use the chord. I know it's never going to happen however it's the kind of thing that a local authority would want.

Ravenglass has the main line station and the Ratty station. The entry in Wikipedia doesn't have a population but I know its below 200.

It's all a matter of definition, I'd say Tyndrum is a village not a town. What is the population of Heathrow Airport with 3 NR stations?

Well, Heath Row, from which the airport derives its name, doesn't even have a population large enough to be classed as a village... so if we're looking for towns, then I don't think it counts.

I can't even find a figure on its population.
