Does anyone have any information on the questions asked for the DMI? Also what then ask what u know about the company how in-depth are they looking for u to go?

Anyone know what type of questions are asked on the dmi? Also Whalen they ask 'what do u know about the company' how in-depth are u hey looking for u to be?

There is a plethora of information on these forums in relation to the DMI. You can use the search function to correlate information. They will be asking and expecting you to know about the company in a reasonable amount of depth. I went into it knowing the company values, Main stations serviced, traction. I also researched about the companies involvement with improving the railway and what the future holds. It was more than enough.

There will be the normal questions
Why do you want to be a train driver.
Give an example of ....
They will want to know your safety conscious AND customer focused.

Each TOC is different and so its best to search the forums as mentioned.

Yes 20th Sept asking for my NI - Carmarthen station I applied for.
When did you apply buddy?
I applied in July for Cardiff and Carmarthen and my application is still under review

We are both on the same stage then. I have heard that things have slowed down because of recent news regarding the nationalisation of TFW. Hopefully things will pick up again
I’m still waiting to hear, my application is still under review, when did you apply mate?

Having a bit of a mental block, sitting in work thinking about my application.

I'm wondering which line(s) TfW are recruiting drivers for, or is not that specific?

I have it in my head that the job advert mentioned the South Wales Metro being the driver for more recruitment, specifically for the Rhymney line, but I don't know if I'm imagining things!? I also recall mention of tri-mode trains, which again points at the Rhymney line.

Is this right or is the recruitment more general. I guess what I'm wondering is which of the lines the successful candidates may end up driving?

Most drivers at TfW work more than one line. At present within the Valleys network most drivers are based at Cardiff Central, with a smaller amount at both Rhymney and Treherbert. Drivers at all 3 depots work over the entire Valleys network (Treherbert/Aberdare/Merthyr - Cardiff - Barry Island, Rhymney - Cardiff - Penarth, Coryton - Cardiff - Radyr, and the Cardiff Bay branch - but notably NOT the services beyond Barry to Bridgend). There were certain limits in the past, such as the Class 37 loco hauled services that ran last year were only worked by Rhymney crews, and it is expected that in the future the 769 services will, at least at first, also only be worked by Rhymney. But by and large any service within that network can be worked by any crew from any of the 3 depots.

Whether or not that changes in the future with the Metro network and the new depot in Taffs Well hasn't been confirmed yet..

Congrats to all.
I’m in the pool, had a phonecall last week to offer a start date in January, but not for the depot I want.

Hi mate, I emailed Laura yesterday and she replied to me today saying that they are looking to start the assessments at the start of the year for Carmarthen and that she will stay in touch
Hi mate, still waiting to hear myself, I’ve contacted a lady called Zoiya at Acorn and had an email from Acorn around a fortnight ago saying my application is still under review. Are you in the same position as me or further forward?
Is Laura another contact at Acorn?
If so, could I please have her email address.
All the best mate.

I think I am one step further than you, I've had an email asking for my national insurance number. Laura works for tfw I think she is a recruitment administrator

When did you get that email regarding your NI number mate?

I’d be grateful if you’d send me Laura’s email so I could contact her.
Many thanks

Has anyone else had their computer assessment cancelled due to their Cardiff offices closing? I took my paper test 4 months ago now with several (frustrating but understandable) delays. God knows how I’m gonna remember what I wrote on my MMI sheet ahaha

Have you emailed her? Think there doing Carmarthen last? It shouldn't back fire on you? It's been 3 months now since having the NI email, my mind was going into melt down not hearing anything haha!
